360 or ps3

i am going to wait for the PS3, after seeing the demo's at E3 it does look more next gen than the X360.. I am going to be swallowing a very bitter pill mind ! paying their asking price...

For this very reason, i may sway over to the X360.... and perhaps a Wii as my 2nd console... I've held out so far on the X360, though i am tempted. But what i've seen running, admitally i've been v.disapointed.
Are you on drugs boi!?
I watched all the e3 games playing on Playstation3, not one thing I saw couldn't be done on Xbox360 now or even on a cheap PC. Very average showing.

Xbox360 has some awesome games out, cheap and has online play (which at best, Sony will only mimmick), however, I will be getting a PS3 aswell. But I can't recommend Xbox360 enough.

Couldn't agree more. Well, except the bit about getting a PS3 as well. It's all about the games (I know we keep hearing this) and the 360 has imo, the exclusives I want to play. Halo3, Mass Effect, Gears of War, Blue Dragon, Fable 2, Call of Duty 3, ChromeHounds, Dead Rising, Lost Odyssey, Ninety-Nine Nights, Alan Wake, Lost Planet, to name but a few.

It has a ton of great games already out, it has and will have a better Live service and from having had dealings with both, better customer support.

Lol, I know I sound like a fan boy, and in that I'm a fan of the 360 I am. It's the best console I've ever owned and has reinvigorated me and gaming. I was bored of my XBox and PC gaming in general and this baby came along. From the moment I started playing my 3 opening day games of Kameo, PGR3 and Condemned I was hooked.

I feel if Sony hadn't felt the need to concentrate on Blu-Ray, and had focused on bringing the best GAME console to market they could have had something special. I feel they're trying to exploit their market position to establish media distribution control for DVD successor and that it's in danger of back firing big style.

Of course they are, Sony isn't just a games company and PS3 isn't just about games.

What way does the live thingy work on the 360 ? How much is it and what do i get ?

Thanks

There are two versions of Live; Silver, and Gold.

Silver is 100% free, you get it out of the box and as long as you have broadband you can use it.

Silver features include
Access to Live Arcade - This is allows you to download small playable arcade games, usually retro games similar to asteroids and the like. Apparently we are getting Steet Fighter II soon. You can either download a playable demo for free or pay a small fee and get the full version. A lot of these games are supprisingly addictive.

Playable demos- A lot (if not most) 360 games have playble demos on Live which you can download and play for free. There is no more the need to buy games magazines to get a preview of a game. Its free online.

Movie trailer downloads - Free and in 480p or 720p
Music videos - Not many but there are some that are free and in 480p or 720p

Themes & Pictures - you can download themes and pictures to update your live avitar or 360 desktop.

Gold Subscription:
Allows the above but also
Allows you to play your games on live against friends and strangers.

The beauty of Live is that when you regester you assign yourself an Identity (which you can change at a later date) which is universal accross all of your games, unlike the PC and PS2 where you have to create a new Identity for each game.

You also have a friends list, which allows you to send messages to friends, and see who is online and what they are doing, invite firends (or recent players) to your games, and join friends games. You can also chat to them independently from what you are doing. e.g. I could be playing GRAW, and you could be playing Kameo, if I sent you a chat invite, you could accept it and chat to me, dispite playing a different game, this works in media center, the dashboard, DVDs, the lot.

The system is simple and intuitive, and think of it this way, if you pay the maximum cost of £40 p/a it works out at £0.11 a day.

Well really you have a choice,

Get the only next gen console available .... The 360

Or wait a very long time...... for the PS3. And then wait even longer for a decent game.

No doubt it will be a good console but so far from what we have heard with the prices etc then I am not impressed.

However I am impressed with my 360.

quoted for absolute truth and fully agree, I will wait unil there are some good games on the PS3, then assess if those games make it worthwhile to invest over the game I have/can get for my 360, which I have had since december 2005. Im guessing that will take a long time (over a year) or never happen. So I'm happy! Yhe Wii however is a definate buy.
I really need a Wii! :D
