360 Resolution

Hi. I have my 360 hooked up to my 19" widescreen monitor (1440x900) via the HD VGA cable. Which resolution should i have the console set to for the best visuals??

i have a 1440x900 screen for mine but can't check as the wife is on viva pinata!

Yep that would be best as it's the same aspect ratio. (16:10?)

because you're screen is a 16:10 ratio screen and 1280*768 is a 16:10 resolution (and the only one the 360 uses at the moment i think).

so 1280x768 will be clearer and sharper/ more detailed than 1360x768?
god i cant get me head round this stuff

it won't be any clearer, but all your games will be displayed in proportion (round things will look round etc, and not slightly squashed).

(if you dived 1440 by 900 you get 1.6 1280 divided by 768 give's you 1.66 which is the closest you'll get for now)

edit...that probably doesn't make any sense! but dividing 1360 by 768 is something like 1.77 so you're further away from your ideal resolution)

ok slight problem. when i set the 360 dashboard to 1280x768 my monitor actually sets itself to 1024x768. it works at 1280x720 and looks gorgious but obviously things are slightly stretched, graphically. i dont understand why this is happening. also i cant see a way to adjust the monitor manually. any help appreciated....

Sounds like your monitor does not support that resolution, what monitor is it? (make/model #)

Just for reference I have the Saumsung 940mw which is the 19" widescreen HDTV and I run 720p which in VGA terms is 1280x720 and the aspect looks spot on. (I assume because the difference in the verticle resolution of 720 and 768 is not really noticable)
