360 rings of death

what im concerned about is that i dont think theres a game yet that fully stresses the 360. i think once there is there may be a few more rrod

Well, I believe the first game to "utilise" all 3 cores (or something highly taxing on the system) was Dead Rising and it did "kill" a lot of 360's from memory (theory being the components work harder, heat up, and "melt"/"damage" the solder points).

Certainly before the revision of hardware, when certain games came out they were followed a by a lot of "xxx killed my 360" kind off ramblings. Most I think were coincidence, but I am certain the creators of dead Rising did state they were pushing the 360 a lot, at the time, which may have contributed, to the higher amount of RRODs and corrupted GPUs around it's release.

:D :D :D

Sorry - I know it's a fanboyish thing to do, but I couldn't resist it :p

I believe we got a lot of RROD threads on here when bioshock was released too didnt we? Although that could have been just coincidence. :p

How often (and likely) do these RRODs occur? Bought my first 360 last weekend so am intrigued.. is it any less likely with a newer console?

It's liek asking how longs a piece of string?

You just don't know, even with conoles which are well looked after (mine is well looked after and I'm soon to be on my 5th when UPS finally pick it up... lazy ********)

It's just completely and utterly random.

OP, sounds like you are indeed om borrowed time, it will still working for now, but since you bought it in July next time it does fail, take it back to where you bought it from and get it swapped, easiest way.

Hmm, I don't know about that. I bought an Elite before Xmas (Falcon), whilst my old Premium was at MS for repair, and that died within 2 weeks. Although it was lower left quad that was red and the error was E74. AFAIK E74 is nothing to do with overheating?

Still it's not give me much faith in the new revised consoles. I mean 3rd console within 18 months isn't good.

E74 is a dead HDD as far as I know.
