No, not at all. The blacks were horrendous on the dell before the update, now they are greatdokko said:Maybe the Dell is just too good, well the quality difference between the two displays say it all.
Only via the VGA cable.Clark Nova said:I didn't realise that the 360 upscaled DVDs. Is that right or am I getting my wires crossed? Certainly DVD playback is much better through my upscaling Pioneer player.
No, the drive spins at 4x iirc and is, for all intents and purposes, silent.Clark Nova said:Oh right, I guess that's nice but I don't really want to have to buy another cable to do it. Is the DVD playback as noisy as when you are playing a game and the disc is spinning in the drive? If it is I don't think I'll bother.
Nope.miracleboy said:Can anyone confirm if this fixes the tearing issues on VGA in Dead Rising? (at work at the mo). Thanks

I've been very impressed by the 360s DVD playback ability
smcshaw said:Apparently they've improved VGA picture quality and have added reference levels to alter how 'black' appears etc.
I just need someone with a Tosh 32WLT66 and a VGA cable to see what it looks like as I'd like the upscaling abilities if they've sorted the colour!
smcshaw said:Right, have it hooked up via VGA and my thoughts are ..
.. it's superb. I've set Enhancements to "Intermediate" and don't think the colours are washed out at all. Over-all I feel the picture is much sharper and I've now got the added advantage of upscaled DVDs. Excellent.
Having had a bit of a play I'm giving a definate thumbs up to the new marketplace tab, I feel it's finally very usable. There are also lots of nice little improvements like how it remembers where you are in trailers with a new option to 'resume'.
My 360's silent when watching films =/dannyjo22 said:I'm impressed by the picture playback on the 360 but the noise irritates the hell out of me when watching a film, yet I dont really notice it gaming.

Try using the component input instead. This fixed it for me as it appears that the 360 has issues with some VGA inputs on HDTV's due to it not matching the exact refresh rate.miracleboy said:Can anyone confirm if this fixes the tearing issues on VGA in Dead Rising? (at work at the mo). Thanks
Kreeeee said:Nope.
But surely that's a problem with the game code and not the firmware/OS?

The reports were always that the colours were very washed out with this TV over VGA so I've been running 1080i over Component for ages.
Will give it a good run tonight (well before and after watching Man Utd stuff Chelsea) so I'll report more thoughts later.
