Doesn't offend me personally, I like the noise it makes for powering on and the one that opens the disk tray sounds a bit like when the ninja cloaks in MGS.

It is a bit annoying I agree.

Sometimes when I get up to plug in the play and charge cable to the front, my hand goes near it and boom, out pops the disc... annoying.

By the way you can double tap eject on a new console to get the disk to load without opening the tray.

Cheers, I'd given up hope of an answer with so many posts about beeps.

This video nearly answered it, but it was triple. I challenge anyone not to find the last 7 seconds annoying

Use the controller to press eject, then get up and walk towards console. By the time you get there its nicely ejected waiting for you.

I've gone to plug in my iPod and pressed the power button with my left hand loads of times.
