3700x upgrade

Argh, my fun budget is depleted after booking a holiday; this isn't good news..!

There's still some on a certain Chinese import site for around £140, 4000 + and good reviews too.

I get that some are concerned with ordering from there, but a fair few have had no issues.

You can pick up a 5700x3d for a lot less and it's not that much slower, definitely would recommend it over the 5800.

Also what res are you playing at as that may push towards a gpu upgrade being the better option even with the current cpu as you could be limited by your gpu and so not really see that much of an improvement upgrading your cpu.

I wanted to follow up on this - I did upgrade from a 3700X to the 5700X3D and what a difference it's made! Thanks for the good advice.

Whilst gaming has seen the best improvements - the stuttering and frame drops even at modest settings (with a 2060 Super) has been eradicated (and I now even have a touch extra headroom to improve some settings since I was previously CPU bottlenecked), I've also noted performace improvements in Lightroom since it does utilise the GPU, I suspect that fatter cache may be helping somewhat, but it's less notable than game improvements.

About the GPU prices i dont think there are as much as my 2080ti. I paid £1700 im sure it was 6 years ago from hear the 5080 i just bought was £1250
