3870X2 anyone playing BF2 on it .

3870X2 anyone playing BF2 on it at a forced res of 1900x1200 ?

Th reason i ask is that I did have 2 x 3870XT on a Asus P5K ( yes i know 16X and a 4X ) but whem I forced 1900x1200 with 8XAA for me 24 inch Dell it could not handle it .

Now I am thiking the money at the moemnt is going to be on Tri Crosfire i just want to know that a lone 3870X2 can force that Res with all the bells and whitles turned on at 1900x1200 ,,Ta

I installed my X3870x2 on thursday and everything else plays fine on it but I cant get BF2142 to even launch. Ive tried reinstalling it and reinstalling DX9(im on XP), all it does is the screen goes blank twice then pops back to the desktop?

Any ideas on what I can try to fix this?

that is really poor.. i thought X2 was pretty decent.

get SLI. you can run over 2xxx res and 100fps easy

You should get exactly the same performance as your Crossfire setup TBH.

My first piece of advice would be to drop the antialiasing a little at 1920.

When i played BF2 years ago I was running everything maxed on a X1900XT at 1680 x 1050

The X2 will be no problem for 1900x1200

I may install it later to test, but i dunno if i can be bothered with it lol

I reckon you'll see a bit of an increase with a x2 since your 2nd 3870 will be hamperd somewhat by the X4 pcie lane.

I've heard this is only 15%, could someone tell me if this is true or not?

I ask because I'm thinking of getting a 3870 to add to my X2, sorry for hijacking the thread.

Not 100% sure tbh, I know there'll be some hit oppose to running it at X16 though. Will try find some benches now.

You can do it through the command line, but you won't get a proper FOV doing that.

There's also an application that forces the FOV to a correct value for you.

Yup, you're right Ulf, seems there isn't much of a performance loss when running the second card at x4, atleast with ati's current gen cards.

Can't link to the site due it having competitor ads on the page.

Edit: Actually after reading it again I notice there's a still decent hit in some places when running at x4, but mainly at low resolutions which kinda defeats the purpose of xfire:/

Try deleting the start up movies, it's a refresh rate problem that affects nvidia at times aswell.

Also try deleting your battlefield folder in my documents. Sometimes the preferences folder gets corrupted.

So my what your saying then is my 8800 Ultra which can force 1900x1200 res with 8X AA and all the bells and whitles is better than a 3870X2 ?

I need some one with a 3870X2 to test this for me if you can please . remember you will have to force 1900x1200 in the start up command line .
