As title, new build and having issues.
CPU shows 85 degrees in Bios and can't confirm its correct as pC does a hard power down after about 20 seconds in Windows.

Is that temp anywhere near normal or a dodgy cpU ?

Cooling is a Corsair h150 triple aio

Similar high temps were noted on the stock wraith cooler 85+ dgrees

The pump on the aio is working (slight buzzing and the lights are on)

Shouldn't be a problem with that board/bios, can you take a screenshot of the BIOS screen reporting the temps? When it shuts down does it say it was a thermal cut out?

If the BIOS is correct then 85 c suggests there's no contact with the coolers, I wouldn't have thought the stock cooler would get that high with the CPU idle even the fan wasn't spinning. Haven't seen that kind of problem with a CPU except when the IHS has been removed and poorly refitted, that was only Intel CPUs though.

Are the CPU voltages okay? I can't imagine it would survive being pumped enough voltage to hit 85 c, but worth a quick check I guess?

As others have said those temps don't sound right, even at max load mine won't go over 75c with a moderate fan curve on the cooler. When fitting the pump etc did you change/fit the correct stand offs for the AM4 socket?

No the film is not on
Tried both Corsair and wraith, best I got was high 70s at bios
Reseated both twice
Currently all set up on a box after removing from case
1stick of ram

Gets to Windows after clean new install to nvme, then the systems just hard powers down, no blue screen

No standoffs for am4, the mounting hardware clips onto the plastic brackets already on mobo

That's good, with my Asus MB/cooler I had to remove the plastic brackets and screw in 4 standoffs, but maybe thats specific to the Ryujin, this is my 1st AMD build. Hope you get your 3990X sorted and have fun with it, it's an awesome CPU :).

What did you get 70s with amd cooler or the corsair
79 degrees with wraith in Bios
Testing on mobo box so aio is still in case

Just tried another clean install of Windows to an SSD, to rule out nvme issues, but exactly the same result, Windows installs then hard power down after 30seconds

Must be something to do with the mounting or the paste. You shouldn't be getting better temps with a stock cooler.

I'm getting 28C in bios so that is definitely WAaaaay too high. Did the cooler come with pre-applied TIM or did you have to apply your own paste? If the latter what did you use and how did you apply it? Is the cooler properly screwed down tight to the CPU?
