ill go for No.3, dont expect it to be that much faster than titan x but better value for money. i reckon it will be at around 980ti performance

It has to be faster then a 980, no doubt about that, if not it's destined for failure. As lets be honest, a 980 comes out around 30% quicker then a 290x, even less once the resolution is cranked up, If the 390x isn't slapping a 980 about it's going to look silly by the standards set by it's predecessor.
My money is it sitting firmly in the bracket between a 980 and titan x, priced around that of a 980 (£500), amd will play the old 'we have the fastest card' thing again with the 395x2 like they did with the 6990.
if this is right, then what i was say in the other thread is right, the 390x won't be near / on pair with a 295x2 or even a TX, just look at the specs of the 390x vs 295x2
390X is not meant to be on pair with a 295X2 or Titan at all. Its mean to be targeted against 980!
It will most likely have a performance up to 10% higher compared to 290X.
The FIJI will have new naming with 2 versions, XT and NON XT. XT close to Titan but cheaper (not expecting much) and non XT to beat 980.
i thought 390x is the top one and a 390 non X. then 395x2 when it's out
If thats the case then why are we talking / hoping 390x will beat the TX
Also do now with the 295X2.
tbh i honesty think the 390x will be between 50-70% than a 290x, most likely 60%... it won't be 100% faster
Honestly, I'm expecting some dissapointment. A 15-25% increase over 290X seems reasonable, which puts it right below the GTX 980.
I'm sure if AMD had something really brilliant up in their sleeve, they would have turned it into a product for the holiday season of 2014. Even if they could improve 20% on 290X, they would have turned it into a new product.
I think that's wishful thinking. A 50-70% improvement on the same processing node? I don't see it happening. Those kind of gains are a thing of the past, unless we see some serious ground breaking improvements in processing nodes and increasing frequencies.
R9 290X was released in October 2013 and we haven't seen a stronger single GPU product from AMD ever since. I'm sure that if they could have introduced a product with 25-30% improvement for the holiday season of 2014, they would have done that.
There is no reason to think AMD, a company that's isn't profitable, will hold onto their technological advancements for over 18 months, only to release "one" product with 50-70-100% performance increase. That's bad business. Smaller performance gains and shorter release intervals is the sound business strategy, and it's proven to be very profitable for NVIDIA.

According to your earlier post you expect the flagship Fiji will be 25% faster than a 290X. I guess AMD are really going to push the boat out with that 25% right?
With 30%+ more further optimised SPs over Hawaii XT, while potentially running at a higher stock clockspeed on the Water cooled Fiji XT, not to mention the extreme increase in memory bandwidth over the 980, it would be a sad day to see it just on par with the 980. Jen Hsun would be laughing all the way to the bank.
i thought we are all talking about the top end 390x or xt whatever it's called....
omg this is getting stupid tbh,
Same as me. No idea what you're getting at. Elaborate perhaps?
