3d Mark 06 scores thread

X2 4400 @ 10x250= 2.75Ghz, oops 11x soz
2GB 3200 DDR OCZ3200 plat
2 x 7800GTX 256 Aopen @ 470/1.3

3D Mark Score = 7669
SM2 = 3148
SM3 = 3297
CPU = 2059

Dual core rulez! (pity todays games like Serious Sam2 give me 15fps)

My bro’s PC=
FX57 @ 15x200= 3Ghz,
1GB 3200 DDR Geil3200
1x7800GTX Aopen @ 450, 1.25

3D Mark Score = 4127
SM2 = 1788
SM3 = 1766
CPU = 1177

Single core does not rule! (at least on 3dmk06, although Serious Sam2 rocks at 70fps)

It's a benchmark designed for future hardware, unless you have the latest Dual Core CPU's, 7800GTX SLi then your score will be very low.
So long as you can run current games at decent settings then it isn't worth worring about.

Yes and No

We would all love the latest and greatest hardware,but thats not why the majority of us are here.We like to wring the last 0.0001% out of what we have and then a little bit more :D

Comparing complete systems built for the cost of top end gpu is all part of the challenge.

For me anyway.

Everything at stock.

System
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4400+
Radeon X1800XT 512mb
Corsair 2GB DDR XMS3200C2PT TwinX (2x1GB) CAS2

Results
4130 3Dmarks
SM2.0 Score: 1616
HDR/SM3.0 Score: 1690
CPU Score: 1648

I enjoyed the slideshow btw :)

Hey Tom! How's tricks?

Opteron 144 @ 2.9 Ghz

X850 XT (not PE) @ 650 / 600

3D Mark Score = 2562
SM2 = 1343
SM3 = NA
CPU = 1137

http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=5039

It looks like the overall score is heavily GPU-weighted.

Here's a system with a dual core with almost the same score as me:

X2 @ 2.3 Ghz

X850XT PE @ 589 / 639

3DMark Score = 2588
SM2 = 1289
SM3 = NA
CPU = 1725

He scores 52% more on the CPU test, but 4% less on the SM2 and gets a score which is only 1% higher!!

Does anyone know what the weighting actually is?

EDIT - Did a quick calculation, and JUST counting the SM2 and CPU tests, the score is weighted 8.525 : 1 in the Gfx card's favour :(
