3x 120Hz Eyefinity Portrait Setup

Vega are you still flying too? I remember first seeing your 3x30 setup for that. That's an area where portrait multimonitor far excels compared to using landscape (with a head tracking unit you can get all the panaroma you need but the vertical headroom is great for dogfighting), but then I remember I saw you using the setup with WoW too so I know you had more than just that in mind... :D

I just bought a couple of Dell 24" monitors, but Im wondering if 120Hz really does wonders for gaming compared to 60Hz monitors. I presume there is no way to show the effect via video/youtube etc unless you are actual seeing the actual screens in the flesh.

Having 120Hz monitors means you can turn VSync on and not get any tearing for greater than 60fps gaming.

So its mainly to prevent tearing (nothing to do with being easier on the eyes (a la old refresh rate on CRTs - since LCDs work differently to CRTs of course)).

120fps/hz vs 60fps/hz (or less) does feel a bit glossier/glidier with respect to mouse responses too, and vsync is the only real cure for tearing doesn't matter what the fps or refresh rate is.

The 3x30" setup was my old one. I really don't flight sim anymore as I fly as a night job.

3x30" was superb for flight sims. The cockpit is so large and detailed it's like your sitting in the 'pit.

I play mostly FPS, strategy and RPG these days so I went with the 120Hz setup. My 5x1 120Hz can be seen in a thread in the graphics card forum.
