4.00GHz on E8600 + Asus P5Q-E (for the noobs)

I think I'll have a go at overclocking my Q6600 tomorrow.

I just have a quick question regarding the DRAM:FSB divider. ON my Previous rig (AMD 64) i had to set a divider for the memory so as the FSB was raised the memory was also raised. Reading this guide theres doesn't seem to be any mention of setting a divider for the ram.

Would i be right in thinking that you set the speed for the ram and the bios will put the correct divider on automatically?

I'm currently at 4.2Ghz 1.424 470*9 and my first core has done the blend test for nearly 8 hours now whilst my second failed at 1 hour 11 mins, any way to stabilize without putting more voltage in or voltage the only way? very annoying how one core can be way more stable than the other

Willhub, is that 1.424 actual, as read from CPU-Z, or 1.424 set in BIOS?

Mine is doing quite well with the Ultima 90. Still testing, though. I don't want to go over 1.4V.

1.424 actual from CPU-Z

I did memtest to test for errors, early in one test I got 1 errors and thats it..

My ram is only at 940 2.04V 5-5-5-15, stock is 1066 2.0-2.1v 5-5-5-15 O_o

Got the CPU to pass small FTT's at 4gig 1.34V but it fails the ****** blend

The settings in the OP gave me a Vista 64 registry error. I had to reinstall the OS to fix it. Anyone else had this problem? I am about to reinstall vista and overclock again... it's a bit of a long process to get the same fail again. Any advice?
