I'm getting fed up of my £2.50 mouse so I think it's about time for an upgrade. Can anyone who has used multiple gaming mice advise as to the best wired one for around £30 - £40? It would be great to get a mouse mat thrown in for the price (I'm currently using the velvet back of a diary :D).

Also, has anyone used the Enermax Aurora? Nice looking keyboard, any good for gaming? Can you press more than two keys at once?

Ta' for any help:)

Depends on the size of your hand and how you like to hold the mouse.

You could try:

logitech mx518
Microsoft intelli mouse 3.0
Razer Diamondback
razer habu
logitech g5

See if anyone you know has one and get a go of it before buying.

As jackthezipper says the best thing to do is to test before you buy but for what it is worth I've got the G7 (G5 but wireless) and the Intellimouse V3 (originals) as well as trying quite a few non-gaming specific mice from other manufacturers. The G7/G5 is great if you get on with the shape but not everyone does, the V3 is a great mouse and the fact that is has remained essentially unchanged for so many years tells you they just got it right the first time. :)

I've got the G5 its a brilliant mouse get a decent mousemat (I have an everglide titan its huge) and you will never look back :)

Aero

I've tried a few mice, and the Microsoft Intellimouse 3.0 is head and shoulders above anything else I've used.

I have the G5 and love it.... fits my hand perfectly.

But you really have to find the mouse that suits your hand the best

I would recommend an MX518 because it fits my hand best.

I had the MX518 and upgraded to the G5... they are the exact same shape... but the MX518 has a 'glossy' finish - so when your hand gets sweaty I found it uncomfortable and would slip easily.

Whereas the G5 is matte... so it doesn't :)

Logitech MX510 is the best mouse I've ever had.

I've tried several Razers such as the diamondback & copperhead and for me no where near as good a feel or glide as the MX510 and both only lasted a couple of months, MX510 still going strong today and was purchased of OCuK around 4 years ago.

I've since had the MX518 which felt as smooth and good as the MX510 did and within the last month got a G5 which basically feels almost the same if not better than both the MX5**.

So obviously i think you should consider buying the Logitech MX518 or the G5, OR for something cheaper the OCZ Equalizer which is still better and last longer than any Razer stuff did for me.

G5 - best mouse ive ever used, if it ever dies I'll end up getting another - coudnt care less what new mouse come out now. :)

The New G5 is out, it now is like the mx518 (which i replaced) but with on the fly sensitivity change!

Doesnt seem no different to the original G5 that came out that I have which only has a back button, whats so good about this grey version?

I'd probally go for the one with a back & forward button if I was going to buy a new G5 mouse.

If you are an FPS player, do NOT go laser - Optical is the way forward.

MX518
MS Intellimouse Explorer 3 (Steelseries edition is nice)
Razer Deathadder

As for mousemat, Steelseries QCK+ or QCK Heavy. £10-£20 depending where you go.

had a mx510 for years and loved it.

fancied a change so bought a HABU which is also nice.

ms3.0 are nice as well.

still using a steelpad 4D from about 4 year ago as well. what rapacious said is what you should go for imo

Ive played a lot of FPS games since I got the G5 back when it was first released, over 100 hours of cod4 recently :) and the G5 is amazing still.

If i got a new mouse it would be the G5 version 2 (extra side button), or the wireless G7.

Now if only my G5 would break down so I could get another, but I dont think its gonna, even with the number of time I drop it / falls off my bed / gets pulled by my dogs :)

Oh yeah and unlike older wired mice the cable hasn't broken its a braided mesh with a layer of rubber underneath and the cable is nice and long. Mine cost me £40 just over 2 years ago

Item: Logitech G5 Gaming Laser Mouse USB
Qty: 1
Cost: £35.89 + Vat
