lmao I think you'll find competitor hinting is also not allowed on these boards either, no matter how well encoded you think that might be

Do have a question guys is there any coil whine on the 7950's imparticular the MSI HD 7950 Twin Frozr III cards?
Sorry for the hijack.

7970 on skyrim gets over 60fps for me with the official HR textures and no mods with the best settings except AA
Well, I stopped looking at this thread as I couldn't make my mind up!
A 7950 might only be £50 more, but 2 of them makes it an extra £100 so that is out of my budget, also love the idea of the IB and Intel board, am actually doing this later in the year, I plan to sell my 990FX & 1090T at Xmas and get myself that setup to maximise performance.
With that in mind, I stuck to my guns, and went the none traditional route and ordered 2 MSI PE 7850's. Should arrive Monday, the reality is, i'm not going to stick another 7950/7970 in my PC anytime soon, and with a new born and a wife on Maternity I don't forsee being able to find any extra cash over the next 6 months, or ever for that matter, hence my decision to get the extra performance, now![]()

Still think 7950 crossfire is a better option. And not that much more expensive if you get the second later on...
@Tommy: we're going round in circles with it mate. We're both just repeating the same point in a different way. I disagree with you but it's all good.
Yes, damn that evil manju.
If you'll excuse me im off to make a purchase.

Not really, you're just insisting something is a certain way when it isn't.
You're using examples that apply to both AMD and nVidia but will only accept it applies to AMD.
It would have been a lot more sensible to go for a single 7950 now, overclock it past 7970 speeds, and then pick up another once they've dropped under £200.
I appreciate that it would have been faster, but I would have also brought with it potential issues with coil whine which the 78 series seem to have significantly less of, I would also question my PSU's ability to run CF 7950's overclocked, probably could but guru3d recommend a 750W for a 7870 (not checked CF 7950 requirements). I could have been waiting 3, perhaps 6 months before I could get a 7950 cheap enough to get a 2nd, although in fairness probably less, and finally an overclocked 7850 closely matches a 7950 in performance.
I don't think you are wrong, just for me I wasn't prepared to wait, and cannot see me being able to spend the additional anytime soon. If OCuK or anywhere else had these cards sub £240 I "might" of considered it (unlikely), but the prices seem to have gone up again.
