I have a friend who is in need of a new computer, and has around £400 to spend, probably £450 tops.

He needs the case, and everything in it. So no screen etc.

He mainly plays WoW, but the best performance for the money is a must. While I've told him what I can, I'm far from the most knowing on this, so I'm hoping somebody here can put together a good system for him.

Thanks all :)

i built a budget machine for soembody a couple of weeks ago.

cpu was a am2 4200
2 gig ram
foxconn motherbaord on board nvidia 6 series (which is more than enough to play wow)
dvd re-writer
(all that cost 130 inc vat from OC)
got a cheap case that had a psu in it for 25 (oc dont seem to do any real budget cases)
you would need a hard drvie from OC - for as little as 29

so that is a total of 184 so far

19" monitor from ocuk 111

that is a total of 295 pounds
10 for mouse keyboard
which would be a more than capable machine of playing wow. with a 95 quid to buy a better G.card if required (wow will definatly run on the onboard card, but it is only a nvidia 6050 so not mcuh good for games)

personally on that kind of budget i would have a look on the usual auction site, and get soemthgin like a 7800 / 7900 I got one for 36 quid

budget builds can be done, and can work well if you look around, and get what you need rather than buying into the "must have the latest hype" - that said I bought an 8800GT on the first day I could get one in stock (from OCUK) and dont regret it one bit lol
