£400 Gaming Spec

Ok, well ive posted a full spec inc. everything you would need to start fresh.

If you dont need a HDD then take it off and get a better CPU. Or an OS...

I sold a lot of the parts from my old system I kept 3 HDD's and I have vista to install. I gave away my PSU and SATA dvd-rw driver and case :( now wishing I kept them I still have a screen as well

ahhhh.... ok matey, well check out the spec i sorted for you minus the HDD and you then have a good spec for £400 or less.

£366.49 when you take away the HDD leaving you with an extra £33.51 to upgrade the CPU, MOBO, GPU or add another 2GB of RAM providing your in Vista x64 to utilize it, otherwise its a waste of money.

I think my spec is a lot better

I just need to decide to spend the extra £30 and get a GTS

Have a look at the antec 300 case.
Far better case than the one you are looking at and will save you a tenner.

Get the 300 and this motherboard http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...P35 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

Should still be under 400quid i think, just

£397.01

I could save even more with the P31. I already had a good look through the case section and I was going to get the antec but I decided on the NZXT and after reading reviews it's a good case just not as well know/bought

you might want to change the ram to some 6400 type as it will only be a few extra quid or so.

Also if you can wait a week or 2 it would be worth seeing what the ATI cards are like.

I do not see the need in 6400 if I wont be overclocking? i dont think i'd notice a difference.

Can you link me to the new cards due to come out please?

Well considering it is only £1 difference, or even less

It's worth having the faster memory as in the future when you find the processor lacking in speed you will be able to overclock it quiteeasily.

On the new ATI cards, there aren't any benchmarks out yet but they are due to be launched on the 18th.

A thread about them is here

Thinking how to save more money. Instead of getting the E7200 2.53Ghz would it be worth getting the E2180 2Ghz and artic cooling freezer 7 pro and over clocking to 2.5-3Ghz saving £22?

Go for it. The Gigabyte P31 DS3L is an excellent motherboard. People on here are far to quick to write it off due to it being a P31 chipset. I have been playing with one and a E2180 and it got that to 3.6Ghz, prime stable, easily. There is an excellent selection of options in the bios. More than you would expect on a board this cheap. Don't forget to press Ctrl+F1 to get the advanced bios options up.

If you get a E7200 and don't clock it then give yourself a slap. The thing is built to clock. Just get a half decent cooler and away you go. Free performance.

I would not get a Hiper psu though. In fact i would'nt have one if it was given to me. I got bitten (and many others) when a 580w Type R blew up. I know it's a 530w but it's still a Hiper. A Corsair VX 450w would be more than enough for your rig. Much better quality and only a fiver more expensive. Failing that a OCUK Huntkey 500w would suffice and it's slightly cheaper too. Don't know much about them but there have been no tales of failures or blow ups on here so they can't be that bad.

I have had a Hiper and it is still going strong in a friends computer it's over 2 years old now as well.

As I have said above I used to have a desktop same mobo (lower chip set) and ran my E6300 at 3Ghz
