£4000 build!

The Osiris pre built looks good. Below is a quote from the info on that machine if you wanted to arrange extra drives etc.

Getting an EE edition is nuts, even if you're scared of overclocking surely 2 minutes in the bios isn't worth £500! :D

I agree... but if thats what the buyer wants to spend his money on then meh fair enough. Although this, in relation to the OC'd versions of GPU's which are usually not drastically more expensive, is a different kettle of fish.

Is it not around £400+ for the higher clocked i7 chips??

First off, I assume you are not a troll...

My point would be, if you are looking for a 4k system and neither of you realise that 4k is a ridiculous figure, and he doesnt know how to overclock, then with the highest respects, to use your ferrari analagy, you are saying;

"I wanna buy a super fast ferrari (4k pc), I have up to ten million pounds to spend (ridiculous amount) want a cracked windscreen (a 24 inch monitor) and am not sure if it takes petrol or diesel (dont know how to overclock)."

Straight up buy a 1-1.3 grand system based on i7 and crossfire 5970's pre built. Then upgrade in 2 years.

And buy a bloody good monitor because whats the point in max settings when you cant see them!

Do not make a build because honestly and this isnt me having a go, nothing you have said indicates either of you really know what you are doing.

If he wants the games at max settings then do that and sell it every 1-2 years, investing in a better one.

^^ this tbh.

Also, cant imagine how i'd feel if i had sunk 4 grand into a rig now and then the i9 hexacores had come out a few months later and trounced the current i7s...

actually i never noticed that you can call and make changes on the prebuilt systems
he will be calling them to make the changes on the ultima :)
thanks a lot for your help
