£40M Armed Robbery In Kent

All I'm doing is expressing is my view. You don't have to start nuking left, right and center just because you don't like it.
And he's stating his opinion which is, in this case, correct.

If you want to seriously go out and prove that, say, the child wouldn't be affected and would infact be boasting to his friends at school, then go for it.

It seems like they acted as policemen at the house, saying the husband had been in an accident. Which is pretty scary in itself, especially for the kid!

Wholy jumping-on-ludicrous-conclusions-for-no-reason Batman! When did I ever said that what they did was ok? And, congratulate them? Are you sure you ment to quote me or....?

Anyway pre-emptive apology accepted ;)
There is no apology, so you can get off the horse now. :)

They may have caught one or two of the thieves but the chances of them finding the money are I should think nearly zero. I expect that money was in the lorry, straight on the nearest boat (or tunnel) and off into the wild blue yonder before anyone knew what happened.

In this case, yes.

Yes. Can you prove otherwise?

Ok, but were they harmed?

So? Is that relevant?

Nope. You?
You're speculating, I would need to see full details of what happened to make a proper decision.

Maybe, I've never been in a situation like that, but unless you have a good knowledge of psychology, or know about some evidence I don't, I'll stick to what I know.

After checking your profile I see you're 17, you're no more than a keyboard warrior who thinks they know all about life. Believe me, you don't.

Could be a very sharp & life scarred 17 year old....... :p :D

No doubt, this'll end up as a Guy Richie film.... (The Robbery)

I work with armed robbers most days and no they are not nice people, they are all saying that the people that knicked this £40M will get caught due to the size of the operation and someone will give em up because they lose their bottle.

Phnom_Penh: I'm not criticising your opinion here, but what actually makes you think this is a victimless crime? What do you envisage a "victim" being like. Personally, i don't think someone needs to be injured to be a victim, they just have to experience the crime at first hand. The people who had a gun pointed at their head were, in my mind, victimised.

By going through the trauma of a life-threatening experience, a person can either cope with it and think of the fact the survived it or take it the way that someone was prepared to kill you for money, and whilst those robbers are out there, still fear for their life.

And Toast - age doesn't come into it, anyone can have an opinion whether 7, 17 or 70.

Whether they were harmed or not doesn't mean they weren't victims. If nothing else they were victims of assault which is merely the threat to apply force.

I hope they all get caught and banged up. Just because a crime is well planned and no one get shot doesn't mean it's OK.

Also, to those saying this is a "victimless" crime because the insurance will cover it... Your insurance (those of you old enough to have it, which I'm guessing some of you aren't) will cover your car or PC being stolen, so is it OK if I nick them? After all, you won't be suffering a crime, and I promise I won't shoot you. Deal?

i would say crime pays and if your willing to take the risks fair enough....
your gambling your life so expect to reek rewards or accept the risk of failer.
you could spend 20 years in jail... lets say you could earn 30k a year for 20 years that 600,000 k - some basic living expenses.... you risk injury, your life, e.c.t
and the odds are reasonably against you, your likely to have about 7 partners or so maybe... so earnings split... it's going to cost a fair bit to plan, major balls to do it and a some skill to pull it off and get away with it.....
lets say 8 people could earn £4 million leagally in the time you could could all be spending in jail.... multiply it by 5 for the risk... and realy all your doing is gambling...
personally i think it's worth the risk if your confident in pulling it of... and is going to remembered for life, and i can imagine the adrenaline :O

bottom lines...
people who lost the money are HUGE it's like miss counting a £100 for a lot of people, nowhere near a HUGE loss.

victims were unharmed although they may have, these people oviously wern't aming to kill anyone, just use fear to get their way... not many people want to kill someone because they won't do something you ask/tell them.

you take a risk, looks like this risk may have payed off... good for them if they pull it off, and in my eyes they arn't all bad people... Keen too see where this goes :]

When someone points a gun to your head and threatens your life AND your families lives, tell me then that you will be just fine and dandy, and won't be unharmed.

It's still a crime and they should still go to jail. No amount of rationalisation makes it OK.

Sure there is! You are just too much of a girl to admit it ;) But it's ok as I already accepted it, so from now on be a good boy and don't lecture others for no reason whatsoever :D

I think there's more than a reason here. I'm getting sick of people glorifying what these people have done. When virtually your WHOLE immediate family is kidnapped with the possibility of execution, then come back saying how good this is. The way people think of here we may as well have NO security.

"ooh if we don't get caught that makes it ok, oh yeah - that bird i nearly slotted, i didn't so everything's dandy"

I am not saying stealing is good, but don't you fancy 40m?

That's where you have shown you look at taking £40m as 'cool', notably with the hint that you would like to be the ones who have taken the money, and especially with the '' emoticon.

Saying something is 'cool' is giving praise, giving praise is applauding, applauding is congratulating.

Therefor, you were praising, applauding and congratulating the thieves.

I state once again, there is no apology to be accepted, so again, get off you horse, princess.
