£45,000 Sierra.

One of the best cars of the last 30 years.Shame the reputation got so tarnished by stock-brokers,and gypsy's !

car like that

you name your price and somebody will buy it. Doesnt matter if 40 million people dont think its worth it

only takes 1 enthusiast with enough money not to care.

daft IMO, I fail to see why this car commands such a price, completely crazy. Will that Focus RS command a silly price in 20 years time? It seems like the same kind of thing to me, a hot limited edition Ford with RS in the name, and is almost certainly more capable than the Sierra, despite being FWD.

i think its more the fact its an RS500

a normal Sierra Cossie in mint condition would be worth far more than any other car of its age, but its because it was part of a limited production run

dont think there were any limited production runs of the Focus RS, there were over 4000 of them produced

think there was only 500 RS500s ?

Exactly, classic and rare fords like this one can go for extremely silly money if the car is original and as well kept as the above.

I would much prefer the Texaco one though! I had a scalectrix one and ive wanted the real thing since!

i dont so what is so appealing about cosworths they seem so over priced and they look so chavy as well. Would have a nice bmw m3 or m5 or merc sl anyday over that..

£45k nearly buys you one like this:

I know which I'd rather have...It comes with pinlock wheels and inbuilt airjacks.

*n

Don't need that much, there's an ex-Graham Goode RS up for £28k (ok, it's in original Listerine livery which is not as nice as the Texaco), buy that and use the other £17k to run it

The other posts state very well why its worth quite a sum of money. 45K is definatley over the top though. 20-25k at the most IMO.

The number plate will be of considerable value aswell.

1 of 500 made, absolutley dominated the touring car championships in the 80's (the sole reason it was made). A total motorsport classic.

The Focus RS is a road car and nothing else, a good one mind. It has no real heritage but will hold SOME of its value when its older same as the odd few Escort and Fiesta turbos, just because of the RS badge.

And your RS500 => Focus RS comparison has no substance, they are 20 years apart! Of course standard for standard the Focus would wipe the floor with the RS500.

Excellent road cars for their time, simple really.

And I don't really get why people associate Cosworths with chavs? RS turbos yeah, but Cossies? I've never seen a chav driving about in a Cosworth, they could never afford to buy, run, insure or maintain one!

If your talking about the older M3, the one thats was competing with the original Sierra 3DR Cosworth, the Sierra was rated as the better car! Go look for some reviews. If your talking about the more modern M3's then the comment has no substance on the grounds that they are years and years apart.

45k - that or one of these

tough choice

I wonder which will depreciate more.

People are missing the point, its the fact that the RS500 is a collectable classic with a rich motorsport hertitage, produced in a limited supply that you will never see again. And you will probably find a car like it will never be seen again. No need for homologation specials anymore.

As a biker who in general hates most cars...

Cossie! Drool!

but 45K? I don't like em that much!

Still, one collector with deep pockets? Done Deal.
