£45,000 Sierra.

The point being what? That 20 years ago a ridiculous spoiler was the trend? I totally get the point, I do, but it still doesn't take away from the fact it's hideous.

Trends/fashion etc certainly do change, but I can only comment on what I feel is the 'trend' based on my opinion. I wouldn't, for example say flares and an afro looked good in this day and age, just because they were 'in' 30 years ago.

That's not to say I don't like classic cars, because I do. I just don't like body parts that are completely disproportionate to the rest of the car.

Ah, but do they ;)

I still see people to this day walking around in clothes that were clearly in their wardrobe 20 years ago.

As my other comment suggests, a DB5 doesn't look hideous, it looked nice back in the day, and it still does. Unfortunately the same can't be said for the OP car.

I can see where McBain is coming from. Everyone will appreciate a DB5, whereas only enthusiasts will appreciate a Cosworth and only becuase they know what it is. Joe Public will place a Cosworth Sierra into the same bracket of disdain they would a badly modified Vauxhall Corsa.

Sad but true.

Oh I quite agree - it is not the fault of Ford or Cosworth. It's one of those things that happens to affordable performance cars that are 'cool'. It's happening to the Impreza right now.

And older evo's, and e36 M3's, and 300zx's. The phenomenon is spreading, and soon will arrive at the door of the E39 camp too, it passed over the e34 a couple of years ago allthough not really m5's.

It leaves my dismayed sometimes that great cars end up with swindling value and fall into the hands of the 'twin tubs innit, fast as ****' brigade where they become unloved, when other technically and visually inferior cars soar up into classic car stardom with soaring value :/

I saw this today, I feel deeply saddened :(

I suspect the E39 will largely avoid it - as did the E34. The E34 slipped into simply being an old BMW rather than a chav-hero car becuase it's a bit dull for them. They either want something 'well sporty' (3 Series) or a 'phat beema' (7 Series).

Obviously a few will slip through the net, and a quick check on the sort of ghastly wheels people are sticking on otherwise immaculate E39's on the BMW5 forums can show, some already have :(

It's a shame but somewhat inevitable. It's ruined the Impreza at least. Great cars, not appreciated by their moronic new owners.

As sad as this?

Take one lovely Topaz Blue E39 530i Sport in good condition.

Then decide it would really look better if you sprayed the whole thing, including black M5 style rubbing strips, in VAUXHALL Arden Blue.

Oh, and then add aftermarket Halfords 19's:

Just... my god.

Nobody likes me on the forum this one came from becuase when someone posts something like that, I tend to say 'yuk'.

colour could be worse, but they have done a grand job of finding horrific wheels. Painted rubbing strips look a little odd.

Could be worse though, could have some nasty tail lights and a big GT wing.

Woah, steady there sunshine.

Hit a nerve :D

At least you got it in the right colour.

Wrong, white is the best :p

Moronic owners seem to be sticking to the classics yet. Still, don't get too carried away with the insults, 2 of my good friends own classic STi's. One of them has had it for years and sunk huge amounts of time and money into it, recently a full API built engine. The other has had every jap car going apart from a supra and rx7, and is now on his 5th or 6th impreza, keeps going back you see even after a brand new evo7.

Moral of the story is they are not all moronic.

Tbh, I think the OP should buy it so I can see it in real life. :p

Donations appreciated ! ;)

How many Scoobys or Beemers will appreciate like that Ford? not to mention have a racing pedigree like the RS 500 had? - You don't find too many RS500's in the hands of Chavs, mainly enthusiasts & Racers. - Thank God!

Well, I'm a blue-blooded Ford fan as I've had a lot of them, including Cossie's and I still use an old 3dr for trackdays, £/power very hard to beat.
On that note though they are "enthusiast" cars now I think, they take a lot of time and money to maintain and there are better cars out there for the money, one of the reasons I went to an M3 (yes the current unloved one- E36)

As for the RS500 a stunner, I'm a show regular and you would not believe the standard of these cars.

If it were my money I'd prob go for this one:
