470 or 480 query

What about a gamble on 2 X POV465GTX @ £165ea = £330. Flash to 470 and voila. Someone ordered a Pov 465GTX and it turned out to be a 470 in disguise. Worth a gamble?:)

Hey Raven do you think this card is worth a punt. See a guy bought a POV 465GTX from Ocuk and has successfully flashed it into a 470GTX, unlocked everything.

jesus i can on this morning hoping for 1 or 2 replies not over 20 but thanks to all im playing at 1900/1200 and yes i do have the money so maybe the 480 will be the better option for me to go for,i no the 470 is close but as i have the money now maybe best to go for the top card while i have the chance to thanks to all,p.s will my corsair 520hx run a 480

POV have made it clear that their GTX465 are all 470 under the hood that part is not the gamble. The gamble will be once unlocked will there be any damaged clusters hence being sold as a 465 not 470 :D

I would say yes, you can check the memory chips before flashing, the plastic shroud just clips off, if it can't be flashed to a 470 just send it back under DSR, if it can then a nice saving of £60 is to be had.

I have a 470 but if I was running an i5/i7 rig I would get a 480 for sure. I was just concerned about the bottleneck with my trusty old Conroe (and 2GB- lol).

I said it makes more sense than a single GTX480, especially to those who bought their 480s on release, when £450 was the going rate.

I bought mine on release nearly 5 months ago and have no regrets paying the premium price, £454.10 to be precise :p

If you don't mind shelling out the extra £150 to get a GTX480, I'm sure you wouldn't mind spending a little more for SLI GTX470. The GTX480s have always been too expensive for the performance they provide.

Upon closer inspection, seeing as 5850s can be had for under £200, have you thought of 5850 crossfire? £40 more than a GTX480, but a good deal faster, plus you get the benefits of two overclocked cards =)

Good choice you will not be disappointed at all

The Asus models are of very good build and have a decent warranty

The MSI cards are also appealing as im sure they have a good warranty, meaning MSI wont mess you around when dealing with a RMA unlike other manufacturers.

Asus and MSI would be the 2 manufacturers i would be looking at at this present time

other than the zotac amp, there all pretty much the same.

the Asus is currently on offer, so i would get that one

Its better to get 470 and overclock it to 480 speeds. Thats what people with common sense do, get a card that can be overclocked to the performance of a stock flagship.

On the other hand if you don't have problem with the money go with the fastest thing there is and don't stop at that if you got the money go 2-way card, 3-way 4-way.

I have a ocuk value 470 and an asus 470 - both clock to over 800 with a volt mod..
I also have a POV 480 that I cant get past 750 no matter what I try, volt mod included, so bear in mind that the oc'ing can be luck of the draw
Personally Id go for the 470, the 480 just isn't worth the extra cash, if it was 20 quid more then yes, but 100 - no way

Well pleased with my MSI 470, just have a slight OC 675/1350/1700, Gpu Temp about 57 - 60'c gaming BC2. Can't wait till l get my GPU H2o Block and see what the 470 will do!!!

It's the first GPU card l'v thought about running two[SLI], this is my first Nvidia GPU Card in about 10year's, review's go on about temp's and noise, all l did was set my own fan profile up. So my temp's arn't that bad 57 - 60'c gaming, fan noise not that bad either at about 4600RPM.:)

well i was going to order the 480 tomorrow but i dont no if i should go for it now or get the 470 clock it upto the 480 and with whats left over buy myself a Crucial RealSSD C300 64GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive as its time i had a new drive, ive been using a old 500gb for over 2 years now

i tell you what raven its doing my head in just trying to decide what to do,ive never used a ssd before so i keep thinking i might not get it to work properly, been a while since ive messed about with anything other than normal drives
