which is nice, theres life left in the beast

Erm. Just noticed as I have not been around much lately. You got a 1080 Easy?

Thought you was going to get a 1070 until the Ti came along? All that talk about the 1080 and you went and got one yourself? lol, oh dear...

I will just leave this here:

Dude Keep up....

I'm not keeping the 1080 you noob :p

Well it's not a 1080 but here's a current run of Fire Strike on 2x970s with a 5820K @4.5GHz vs the best run I got with my old X5675 and 2 x 970s (over a year ago. X5675 would have been at 4.54GHz I think with the GPUs boosting to a little over 1500MHz. :p

great cpu, my bro has been using one for the past 2 years

great price aswell, but its nothing compared to a i7 4790k or i7 6700k

ipc difference plus clock difference plus x58 motherboards get really toasty and take up a lot more power

its a good chip if ur still with it but I wouldn't be pairing it with a 1080, some people who haven't changed their CPU in years but keep buying the best gpus needs to realise they could probably buy the card below it (1070) and upgrade their CPU and get a better overall experience

It is much much cheaper to periodically upgrade your graphics card, than to buy a whole new cpu, motherboard and RAM combo.

Just done this little test

In single threaded performance is 25% behind a 6700k

But the xeon beats it in multi...

8 years of progress right there....NOT! :p
6700k can OC as well

when I swatch from x5650 to 6700K I did some benchmarks

gpu I use was the 390

Looks like that old dog has still got some life in it, dunno why people are comparing much newer more expensive CPUs when your just showing what your old studio PC can still do, thats pretty good getting the top spot on the firestrike, i dont think Kaap will let you keep that for very long though :)

Yeah me neither lol

I wasn't trying to ruffle any feathers ....:p

Would you be able to test in a few games at all?
Firestrike is all well and good for the numbers game but it doesn't give you as good a real world indication of performance as a proper game :(
