4790k replaced but different code mich difference ?

Hi all

Just had my new 4790k arrive from intel. The one i sent them was make in malay and had a L42 code

The new one is made in vietnam and has an X43 code is there much difference should i expect the same oc ?
 
Must be a new recent released batch, google doesnt turn up much on it tbh. Iirc my retail one was an L3 malay chip, oem one in sig is an L4 but cant recall where it was packaged. The latter one clocks a bit better.
 
What did you manage from the first chip Randall, and mind if i ask why you had to send it back?

4.8 at 1.311 doesnt sound too bad tbh, but id avoid prime 95. Try asus real bench as it's much kinder on temps. And a pretty decent stress tester in its own right. 5 passes of this and my setup has been grand for months now.
 
First chip was a Dead-un never tried overclocking as it was never stable at stock clocks :( then re installed windows and would not post. called intel they said its a dead chip. Replaced it with this one and its fab.
 
Ill be honest ive never seen/heard of many doa cpu's. Good to hear that a, you got a working one for starters, and b, it seems like a good un.:)
 
I have never had an issue before and now its been replaced by intel (useless DHL for sending it to the wrong country) i can honestly say it actually was DOA and never even tried over clocking it etc. however intel tested it and confirmed Core 1 was faulty
 
Did you run the stress test or benchmark? Ive only used the latter myself. Max temp of 81c, 1.300 vcore at 4.7. At stock mine will hit 94c in 3 seconds under prime 95 small fft.

I didn't even know there was a benchmark setting... :D
 
Yep, it runs through 4 tests, image editing, handbrake h.264 video compression, open CL and finally the heavy multitasking which is a combination of the previous.
 
done the stress test, runs a lot hotter than prime. Random still in Arma 3 getting 68c after half hour. Im just about to build a custom water loop so temps will soon be sorted at the moment have a naff Coolermaster 212 evo
 
Id try the benchmark, 68c is pretty ok for games. Get similair with a dual tower alpenfohn k2 air cooler. Theese are just hot running chips when you hit them with heavy stress programs.

Ohh I misunderstood. Thought you were talking about p95. My mistake!
 
I have it on good authority that from 2015, 70% of all Intel desktop chips will be made in Vietnam, they have a new fab here, so Vietnam is likely to be the best we get for a couple of years.
