4850 Launch Delayed till Jun 23

If the title said "GT200"

There would be 27 posts already taking the p*** out of Nfail etc etc etc.

I'm almost tempted to buy another ATi card just so I can post all it's problems here for the rabid ATi jihadists.

Still the NV fans shouldn't crow either, this means an extra week before any competition to force prices down, might scupper a few of the launchday buyers.

What, and you think you're not some kind of fanboy too? Picking faults with cards that aren't even out yet says it all to me. Most people don't like NV as company so refuse to buy their stuff. You seem to have some sort of love affair with NV and buy their stuff no matter what. Vaseline can't be good for a graphics card... Head + rectum = 'thegoonden'

I doubt many people will really care if the cards are delayed a bit. Not many people (those with sense) are gonna buy right on release day because of price gouging.

^ wow... just wow :p.

and i'm with kylew here... It doesn't really make a difference - i think ATi will still sell more on the day, because of their lower prices, the concurrent release of the 4870, and the fact that nVidia's pricing their stuff a lot more than ATi...

it's not always about raw performance, no matter how much we make it out to be; budget comes into it, and that is what in the end determines the specs of the PCs we have.

yes i agree budget is key, the 4870 should be an awsome card when u take ££'s per punch into the equation.

i can't see the need for a few extra frames for an additional fortune.

Until its out we don't know. We hope it is a good bang for buck card, but at the end of the day, if it doesn't perform much better than an old 8800gtx 768, then personally I don't really see the point of buying it.

We wait with baited breath... well not really ;)

If the rumors are right, then the 4850 looks like it'll have 8800 Ultra-beating performance, it's not a huge step up compared to the 3870X2 and faster cards, but for such a small single slot card, there's quite a lot of point to them. :) Plus the fact that they're going to be cheap. 8800 Ultra beating performance also = all 88-9800s (cept GX2) beating performance too.

Is that why they do it?!?!?! I thought it was just so they could hold the hook in one hand, the rod in the other and well.. nevermind.

I wonder if it will push 8800 prices down? :D Still thinking about selling the 3870 and maybe trying to get a 4850 or 70... want to find out the likely prices first though :)

I've always wondered where that saying comes from. Is it something about chewing maggots to pass the time?

PK!

It's bated which in this context means to hold ones breath! Not that exciting i am afraid!
This is already in the main rv770 thread.

vaseline should never be used as a lubrative
you= phailz

t for a start corrodes condoms, and being oil based rather than water based can at time mess up the insides of what ever whole you decide to put it up.

Your all forgetting though, 4870's are going to be high premium prices now that they are saying they are going to be in limited numbers, which is good for Nvidia, as more people will go for the GTX 260, rather than hunt down the high priced 4870's imo.

woah,
could be totally confused but i thought loadsaMoney was an anti-nividia fanboy that argued the same point over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again but just rephrased it.....something to do with the naming structure.

Not a bad point he has though ;) I reckon 260 will still be a ridiculous price anyway.

And holding ones breath is precisely the explanation of the phrase btw. Apparently I have actually started holding my breath a lot whilst watching tv extra... totally off-topic but wierd none the less :D
