So I got my new 4870 x2 and of course having loads of issue's (yawn ATI).

Resolved most of the issues so far except for this weird graphic bug in relation to shadows in some games. Here is what i mean in GRID: (Look at the back of the car!)

What the hell is that about?

I've tried on different resolutions and with and without AA but all the same. Look at the scoreboard aswell.. wierd.

I'm getting wierd shadow problem's in FC2 aswell but completely different, whereby the shadows flicker and stretch.. hard to explain will upload a pic later.

Sorry man, it's been using all my strength not to type "You sold your 280 for this, live with it" :D Hope you get it sorted though! Computer problems whilst some of the most trivial in life, often turn out to be some of the most fraustrating!

I havent sold my 280!!! It's sitting here right beside me!

I will return it if and when i get my 4870 x2 working faultlessly! If it doesn't the 280 is going back in!

At the risk of a major backlash - ATI users tend to stay stum about image quality issues on ATI cards. It seems ATI held the IQ crown for so long that now its reversed they can't accept it :p

Basically this won't be the last IQ issue you have with your new card. You can only hope for a driver fix at some point. And so beings the wait each month for the next set of drivers 'that will definitely fix it... definitely'.

mate i recenlt sold my 8800gtx for my x2 and im getting problems, vantage is a mess, far cry 2 in dx10 has to be tweaked to get to work correctly, cod4 is playing at 90fps but doesnt feel as smooth as my old gtx did, its about to meet the bin if i dont get good drivers!

Probably because the vast majority of users do not have any issues. Why make a post saying, everything is fine? I would love to be able to help the OP, but my x2 must be magic because I have had zero issues since I purchased it. Who wants to touch me eh?

Could just be your system, or perhaps a small number of users with a particular setup quirk. A prime example would be the OP of the topic with his GRID issues, he gets them, I don't and I would be prepared to wager neither do the majority of 48x0 owners.

Most comparison threads on this board certainly seem to have an agenda behind them, but it is silly to worry about it as with all things people will choose sides to cheer from. I have been issue free with my x2 and I am happy with that, as I said perhaps it is magic, it could be yours for a measly £500!

Now when i load grid the screen starts tearing like mad and even in the menu its massive black bars cant even see the f'ing menu properly. Guess what, ATI just failed.. GTX 280 GOING BACK IN NOW.

Had a 9800xt back in the day, was amazing. After that i stuck with Nvidia all the way, then when I thought i'd give ATI a try again this happens.

Never will I buy any AMD/ATI products again.

You obviously have a broken card. Send it back and get a refund as it is plain to see you would rather have the 280 no matter what the situation.

Strange how people with faulty x2's seem to have a faithful 280 just lying around...

This happened on the 4870 I tried as well... I'm wondering if it happens on most cards just a lot of people don't notice it or don't want to notice it...

How is it strange? I bought a 280, a few weeks later thought why not try ATI, bought an x2 and was going to return the 280 but after this I am SOOOOOOOO glad i kept my 280!

Its actually been a good lesson for me, at least now I will save myself a lot of hassle by never buying ATI again.

Rebooting to install 280 drivers again, x2 is allready packed away and will be shipped back tomorrow!

Its getting pretty boring reading these "ZOMG!!!11111 i will NEVAR EVAR buy *insert brand* again. Eventually everyone does, and people that dont must like parting with money for inferior performance or are just fanboys.

You're having issues with what could well be a faulty card and yet thats not even something you're considering. Sounds like you had your mind made up about not wanting the card before you even got it.

does that even make sense?

He got the card, ran into something thats either a driver bug or a problem with the card and is doing his nut over it. I could understand if he had no card to fall back on but he has a gtx 280, not as if its a slow card. His reaction makes no sense considering if its a faulty card he can get a replacement or refund.

Hes not taking into consideration the card could be a dud either.

The reason I know the card is not a dud is because most if not all other x2 owners are experiencing the same thing. The responses I have been given so far on other forums is "Live with it".

Just installed 280 again, everything up and running including mega overclock and stabilty test rock solid, total time - 6 minutes.
