Actually i ordered the cpu, MB, Cooler and Ram yesterday, so i've not actually got it all yet. I was going to get the E8400, but decided the E2200 would suffice for my gaming needs till they start using quad cores a little more. Looking to upgrade later in the year maybe, depends how this cpu performs i guess.
unless you are going above 400FSB then 6400, decent 6400 will be fine up to around 450FSB (my GeIL ULL 6400 Runs @ 4-4-4-12 @ around 900mhz).. anything over 450FSB you are best looking at 8500+
anyone know if they overclocks any good? 4GB OCZ DDR2 PC2-8000 ReaperX HPC (5-5-5-18) Dual Channel kit. Will it do 4-4-4 @ 460 or 500mhz?
what about the OCZ 4GB (2x2GB) PC2-6400C4 800MHz ReaperX HPC Enhanced Bandwidth Edition Dual Channel DDR2 (OCZ2RPX800EB4GK) will that overclock to 460 and keep timings of 4-4-3 or 4-4-4?
Both the OCZ kits have this heatsink:
my team ram i bought 1yr ago wont work with the additional 2gb team i just got, even tho they are exact same ram so sent it back for refund and will have to sell current 2gb team 6400 and get a 4gb kit of something.
Dont wanna spend over £120. looking for the ram to overclock nicely, i currently run my team @ 456 4-4-3-4 2.1v.
any suggestions?
Will the gskill run at lower timings than the rated 5-5-5 if i overclock it to 460mhz?
The OCZ reaperX 1000mhz is around £112, the ocz reaperx 800mhz is around £88 and the gskill 1000mhz around £94.
but we arent going to need over 4gb any time soon virus2k. ive decided to go for the pc6400 reaperx, read lots of great reviews they do 420-480 @ 4-4-3 and 560-580 @ 5-5-5-18. Just wish they were a little bit cheaper, only ocuk do these 4-4-3 reaperx pc6400 unfort as they are pretty new.
