4k at medium settings vs 1400p at ultra?

This, don't get the nonsense that to appreciate 4K you have to have huge screens, I had 27"@1080p and thought that looked great when others said it was crap, now I have 3840X2160 @28" and the difference is stunning. Also all this other nonsense that 60Hz is no good, not everyone plays super fast fps, :

Its not nonsense, its called "personal preference" or "opinion", yours being different doesnt invalidate anyone else's... The OP asked for opinions on which I gave based on comparing the actual settings the OP asked for, it is up to him to interpret peoples opinions to decide which is closest to his use case.

I don't know why everyone has to post as though theirs is the only valid choice.

I also didn't say 60hz was no good, I said that 144hz this time round won me over, if you look I also said that in the past 1440/60hz won with me over 1080/144

And yes I can well imagine that going from 1080 to 2160, a four times increase of ppi, is a massive difference... Going from 1440 to 2160 the differences become more subtle, the jump from 1080 to 1440 is more noticeable... In My Opinion

Also all this other nonsense that 60Hz is no good, not everyone plays super fast fps, I'm perfectly happy with 4K@60Hz thank you very much. Also get 4K and you can also go back to 1440p and even 1080p as I find it scales very well and looks great on my monitor and when hardware catches up you have 4K. Been waiting to see how Fury/X does with 4K but I'm not convinced one will do me for my setup, cant afford X2 crossfire and don't want the hassle that entails with Amd, so probably gonna skip this lot, hell anyway there is no stock of FuryX, shambles from Amd to be honest and like another on this forum I am slowly being pulled towards the dark side and I squarely blame AMD for this and I will never forgive them if I turn.:mad:

Are you happy?
Shouldnt be about what hardware you have or not.
120hz 2560x1440 would be a better choice than 4k 60hz for those that are sensitive to slow movement, I am for example just that.
The Fury release are a good one as cards fly of the shelfs.
it seems AMD have people who do want their stuff.

Decide which is better for yourselves.:)

2160p Heaven 4 no AA

I can see very little to no difference in the quality of pics.

Erm, the 980ti is massively outselling the fury... If AMD's target was to give nvidia 90% market share then yes they've fulfilled that aim tremendously.

I may have misread but I thought there is already a 4k 144hz monitor with GSYNC

Edit: I did, no mention of 144

I too don't really play fast FPS so that monitor would be great for me. I'd love an IPS 4k though as I had an AOC and Dell IPS 1440p and they had lovely screens.

Looks lovely but I think I may want to try something with GSYNC. That said, I've managed without it on every PC I've had so could compromise.

I must say I have never tried G-sync so don't know how good it is.

I don't play that many fps dependent games, so doesn't really affect me.

I always find it interesting that people rave about non-G/Freesync 144hz monitors...however I wonder how many games a 980Ti can run @1440p upwards of 144Hz with max settings :D

I get around 100fps in most games on maximum settings, obviously can tune that upwards with smart use of AA and some of the more demanding settings, but 144hz with gsync to smooth out the dips is unparalleled in my experience

do you have a $K screen to see the difference in them two screen shots.
I did a test yesterday on my 4k using ARK I had it at 4K then switched to 1080 "1080 was my previous benq gaming monitor resolution" there was a big difference in both.

also 4K screen shots "F12 whilst in game in steam" off GTA 5 in 4k look very cool btw with a Fury getting around 50-55 FPS ish.

This is my monitor http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/it/monitor/professional-monitor/LU32E85KRS/EN

Just throwing my 2cents in here. I've got 4k and while I do love it, I don't like the frame hit. Stick with 1440 for the time being, I have to run some games at 1440 simply because the higher framerate is more important than the prettier visuals on them. GPUs need another gen or 2 really.

Depends on the game and its textures.

Witcher 3 looks better at 1440p highest settings than it does at 4k on medium.

Agreed, 4k is a *bitch* on gfx hardware. I'm just about getting away with it (maxed details) with 2 clocked G1's!!!! :D

Would I change it though? Would I **** ;) :p

Is your experience based on your signature spec or have you upgraded?

I've returned two 1440p monitors as they didn't really excite me, even coming from 1680x1050. I've got a 4k screen coming in the hope that it'll be what I'm hoping for. This is on an MSI Gaming 980ti as well, which was eating every game I have on full settings.
