4k2k Display with NVIDIA® G-SYNC - Acer XB280HK

HOLY MOLY.

I must resist.

Hope you have some serious gpu power. As we stand right now 4k is really disappointing for gaming and even with g-sync it's not going to help much. That's why it's bringing out its ROG swift. The Asus 1440p 144hz g-sync monitor will spank any 4k monitor to date and asus knows it.

Pair of 780's, and at £499 with the money saved over not buying the swift I'm over half way to a third if required.

As for depth I'm not sure, but I'd imagine its the same panel as in the other 28" 4k TN's which I think were 8+2

I want to love 4k , but after seeing them in action when gaming I just can't. Even 3 titan's have a issue with playable frames. It's don't matter if it has 8+2 it's still nowhere near to the worlds first 1440p 144hz 27" swift. I hope you enjoy you monitor mate, but I've played with a few now and it hurts to play on them. I'm going to wait a year or 2 before going 4k.

What's with all these monitors having G-Sync? Anything coming for AMD users? I don't see any point paying for a feature if you can't use it.

Yep, the only thing different between this and the Sammy/aoc/Asus 4k monitors is the gsync module. If you don't have or don't plan to buy an nvidia card then you may as well shop about.

That said, at £499 its the same price as the others (less then the Asus!) And you get a little bit extra in the shape of said module for just in case. At £499 or even £559 you aren't really paying extra for anything in contrast to other 28" 4k tn's on the market...

And the worlds first 1440p monitor with 144hz. Even without g-sync this monitor rules. without it though I wouldn't pay this amount.

Are we likely to see any competitors in the near future? I always begrudge paying the early adopters tax ;) Once more are out I expect the relatively low 4k prices to keep things in check. I see Intel are keen to push cheap 4k, to sell more cos however I suspect it will be the GPU companies that will making the money. Reminds me of the bad old days when you had to spend a fortune just to game at low res (relative to now) and still not be able to max out the settings. Is it me or does running a decent PC seem to be getting more expensive again?

Monitor roadmaps show nothing, probably come in 2015.

Gibbo - ready to pre-order when ever you give the signal of the special offer price being available :-) Need to order a few parts, any chance you can hold them until the they are all ready and ship them together with the monitor being available? Want to avoid having to explain multiple deliveries to interested parties.
