5 a day

F & V is more to do with keeping your immune system healthy and internal chemical reactions generally speaking. A person that lives off pre packed rubbish all the time will suffer worse in regards to diseases and injury, a healthy person with good nutritional levels will heal remarkably faster.

I lived a very healthy diet all my life until the 1st couple of years at uni, when I used to get cuts and injurys before uni id heal near enough within a couple days, 2years of rubbish and it took ages heal any injurys, now iv got back on to a strict healthy meal I feel much better and have not had even a cold in 3 years

Im generalising and talkin a lot but you get the idea

Hard?

Just eat a balanced diet all the time (and not just throwing in the occasional tomato or orange as a token gesture) and it's easy.

My breakfast contained chopped apple & apricots, and some raisins (plus yoghurt, a few raw cashews & almonds, and porridge oats).

Lunch was a chopped yellow pepper, sliced cucumber, cherry tomatos, chick-peas and tuna.

I'll have a banana and an apple at around 3pm.

Dinner will probably be a chilli (completely home-made sauce containing tomatos, peppers, onions, garlic, kidney beans and either lean mince beef or soya) poured over brown rice.

I've got a water dispenser in my office, and a kettle which I use for green tea.

Seriously, once you get into it and change your lifestyle, it really is easy.

Thats pretty healthy ( i might say excessive but I don't want to upset you).
I have a Q: do you feel any better physically for eating that healthily?

My mum is a bit of a nutcase when it comes to eating healthilly and generlaly it is passed on to me, but I still enjoy lots of so called unhelahty food. Its hard to avoid in Switzerland when every national food contains copious quantities of butter, cream and cheese, such as the tartiflete I had to lunch or the fondue I had last night.

I'm eating 5 bits of fruit a day at the moment. It's doing horrors to my insides, wind city and yesterday i savagely blocked the toilet :/

Years of eating rubbish, smoking, and getting little exercise took its toll D.P, my weight is terrible (but coming down safely and controlled) and i'm hypertensive.

A couple of years ago my health got bad enough that it kicked me into gear to change my lifestyle. I changed my diet, I gave up smoking, I gave up booze, and I started exercising.
I feel great nowadays, although the B.P still has to be medically treated for the time being. I have energy that I didn't have before, and I don't get "ill" as much as I used to (colds, bad stomachs etc etc).

Downing a carton of OJ before I go to bed makes me feel less guilty :p

that wont make it easy to get to sleep....all that sugar

theres a fair bit of variation with me, can be anything from 2-6 portions of fruit+veg a day, probably averages 3.

normally get my 2 litres of water a day(damn i love vimto) sometimes i get home from work and drink 1 litre of water just there and then, i get so thirsty sometimes for no real reason at all.

So true....

When I was at uni, who were the ones always feeling crap and unwell? The ones who ate crap.

My diet isn't amazing but it's decent and I can't remember the last time I was ill, I always feel like I have lots of energy, and generally feel great \o/

What goes in = what comes out :)

Innocent smoothy is actually bad for you so I heard.

even if you do eat 5 types a day, wouldn't mean much if every day you also piled down loads of crisps, sweets, ice cream and biscuits

Where's that Captain Obvious picture when you need it...

We used to have a German teacher who was convinced that going on a diet meant downing as much Diet Coke as possible.
