50 - 55" TV for max £600 - possible? Recommend me!

So you'd recommend this TV then ? How is picture quality on Freeview channels ? I mostly watch Freeview HD. And the biggest thing that puts me off modern TVs is how they handle fast action. My "ancient" 40" Samsung (60Hz panel, no fancy motion handling settings) handles football, F1 etc very well. A recent trip to PC World/J Lewis to look at a few 4K TVs left me feeling that my 8ish year old Samsung handles fast movement and camera pans better than most of the TVs I looked at. I did have a look at the 49XF9005, and it did seem one of the better TVs in this regard.

I don't watch any freeview/sport on mine as it's used for gaming/netflix but the XF90 is known to be a very good TV for motion:

If you know someone in NHS/police etc you can sign up for a blue light emergency card, gets you access to the Samsung employee discount shop. I just bought the ue55nu8000 with free M7500 Blu-ray player for £650 delivered.

Slight hijack, can you shed some more light on this please? I have just signed up but I can't see anything about a Samsung staff discount, just an option to get 0%.

Is there an option to access the employee portal? If so, all pricing on there will be the reduced price :-)

As the title really, i'm looking for a new tv. Ideally i'd like at least 50" and the top of my budget is £600. Can you get a decent 50" set for that budget or am I dreaming?

A quick google brings up the Philips 50PUS6703 50 at £429 and reviews seem to suggest its pretty good?

Anything obvious I should be looking at?

decent no chance.

you can get an okay set but it will more low end than mid end.

put it this way mid end 55" is £1K it's hard to find 50" tv's these days usually 43" and 49" in the lower brackets.

high end sets start at around £1500+ unless on sale.

right now 2018 sets have went EOL - basically stock has dried up or will soon enough. it's hard to find decent tv's in stock especially at your price.

so 2019 sets should start releasing within the next 2-3 months but will be more expensive than EOL sets.

I am sure I can get over that, what's the usual - 3-5 years?

I think my hotel model TV I bought off a friend for £35 is on its way out.
