Cant go very wrong with this, 3600mhz RAM is the new sweet spot for RyZen 3000

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £506.47 (includes shipping: £10.50)

You don't need to buy expensive Ram. Also the R5 3600 and a cheap cooler over the 3600X.

Crucial Ballistix Sport LT Ram is also good, but not sold on here. Look for kits with (AES) in the part number.

thank you thats bnrilliant

I assume the B450 doesnt need a bios flash anymore? I seem to remember it did

It should work out of the box (Fingers crossed) but the board has bios flashback as well which should work even without a cpu installed.

With regards to memory speed/timings have a look at this review over at Hexus. In many of the non gaming tests and all of the gaming tests 3200mhz C14 beats 3600mhz C16. It would seem that tight timings are still very important rather than outright speed.

Still pricey though. You are looking at £150+ for 3200MHz CL14. The Crucial Ballistix Sport LT which gets mentioned a lot on here is half that price and overclocks pretty well.

Hi guys - just resurecting this as im going to go for it.

Could you please just confirm the current best mobo, ram and cpu in terms of value and performace? im pretty sure ill go for the 3600X and will be gaming at 1080p 144mhz.

thanks

AMD 3600
MSI B450 "MAX"
Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 3 (Shop around for it, you can find it for £70-80)

The RAM should easily OC to 3600-3800 mhz and the B450 "MAX" motherboards don't need to be flashed to support Zen 2. Definitely don't go for that stupidly expensive 8pack crap someone linked above, you could bump up to a 3700X CPU almost for the price difference between the Crucial and 8pack memory, and the Crucial stuff will be just as fast.

Have ordered:

The MSI B450 Max tomahawk
AMD 3600X - will just use the stock cooler
Crucial Ballistix Sport LT Ram (found it for £72! not bad) 16GB

This all matched with a Vega 56 so shouldnt be too shabby!

Will all arrive on Friday and then............. ill probably break it all.
