500GHz Processor!

Never mind you fancy games, operating systems, benchmarks and security programs, I'm just hoping this chip can manage to run MSN smoothly tbh. :)

Stelly

Do you really need it at 500GHz lol :)

Damn..now there I was thinking that phase change would be the best thing to use for Oc'ing, but IBM comes out and uses a cryogenic freezer :)

At room temperature, the not-specified prototype chips topped out at about 350 GHz.

Uh, I'm afraid you're all a bit off. This isn't a microprocessor, it's just a terrribly written article. It's a processor, ie. a comm chip used for generating frequencies.
Does mean faster Wifi though..

This is just a transistor?

Wonder if it'll get used to crack encryption.

Fastest i've seen conroe go is 10.735secs iirc. Nothing has broken the 10sec barrier yet
That was o/c to a shade under 5GHz with liquid nitrogen, IIRC.

Of course, Pi to 1M decimal places can be calculated in under 10s. Just not with a PC. Yet.
