5080 & 5090 Coil Whine Thread

Exactly the same here, Steel Nomad there's whine. Unfortunately, there's also whine when running inference on local LLMs too, but yeah, definitely angry bees lol. I'm thinking any one who's sensitive to coil whine should avoid ASUS for this gen
Quite a few TUF owners ahev said theirs have coil whine which is a shame. Wonder how the astra fairs and the prime.

So far from the posts in here. Go for Palit, Msi gaming trio (a very very slim chance it has it). Zotac (50/50). Avoid Asus Tuf (very high chance of having it). The rest to be determined when there is a larger sample size. We only have one astral and one suprim owner that has posted in here about it but so far inconclusive.

As you say definitely looks to be a trend of Tuffs been bad for coil whine.

I want a 5090 Gaming Trio review. The fans on the 5070ti version are amazing (24db under load), I hope the 5090 version is similarly strong with a 600w load, despite having no vapour chamber.

Okay, so got my TUF 5090 today, and there's definitely coil whine, much more audible than my Gigabye 4090 Gaming OC. I'm not entirely certain if I'm going to return it, too lazy tbh lol.
That's exactly the upgrade path I was also on! 0 whine on my Gigabyte, plenty on the TUF. It's not the 'annoying' whine and only under certain loads (haven't tried local LLM which is one of the reasons I got it). I've made my peace with it though. Hopefully with a bit undervolting it becomes less noticeable.

Yeah I'm used to it tbh, been stuck with coil whine for the past 3 years on my Asus x670e motherboard. I feel like there's an inherent Asus coil while problem, it was the same on the 40 series too.

On the brighter side the chip is good and clocks really well so meh lol

Yeah, I've been exclusively Gigabyte for the past 10 years or so, and not once did I actually get coil whine from those cards, and then finally got my first Asus (as it's the only one I could get) so I'm curious to see how they fare especially the Aorus / Gaming OC
