5090 worth it?

I am tempted by the aorus master 5090 but have a 9070xt am I crazy to want to upgrade already
Only you can answer that question :p

What resolution do you game at? What's the refresh rate of your monitor? Do you feel like your 9070xt is slow? Can you afford one without crippling credit card debt?

Also, why the Aorus Master specifically?

Is the 5090 worth the money right now? With talks it's going to go up in price. Is it a choice of now or wait for next gen
The question is, is it worth it to you? Only you can answer if you ‘need’ the performance. For me I want the best RT path tracing experience. But my 5080 still did the job extremely well before. Can you justify the ££££

I've got a 5090 and my wife has a Nitro+ 9070XT. Both of us run 9800X3D. We both run games at pretty much the same settings and both run frame caps to keep heat output down in the study. If I didn't have a FPS counter up you'd not be able to tell which was which.

I know there are games where the 5090 would leave the 9070XT for dead but the 5090 is not good value. Both GPU were purchased through my company so I got them both with significant savings Vs private purchase but I'd still say the 9070XT is all you currently need.

Ye olde 6900xt still in operation? :)

Not having a 5090 is not limiting the choice of games that I play, nor the enjoyment of the ones that I do. A couple of years back I bought a second hand 4080 FE.
A personal choice, as always, but at least, with this one, my wallet thanks me.

Do not be overly influenced by the current situation, or because something is shiny or nice to have.
Although I do admit that some aspects of tech buying gets a bit of a free pass at times, where common sense should apply.
A 5090 though is a total stretch too far.

I don't know how value being subjective is still news. Internet is littered with "is it worth it?" videos/questions etc. Answer is always the same, I don't know, my balls aren't made of crystal.

The only situation I'd say it's definitely worth it is for VR players. I gave my crusty old 4090 to a friend and he's managing just fine on that, though he does play at the peasant 1440p res.

It's currently gathering dust as I need to get around to selling it. I'm planning to sell the whole 5800X3D based PC with it as wife got an update late last year. To be honest, it's still a very capable system.

Might be interested in buying the gpu back if it goes up on mm as a split at some point.

Yea but resolution plays a big part in this. If you're playing 1080p or 1440p then what you're saying makes sense, but at 4K your wife will need to be using far more aggressive upscaling which would be immediately noticeable
