I'm wondering this also, having upgraded to a 5k2k display recently I was going to grab a 5080 (upgrade from 3080) but now I'm thinking a 5090 might be the better choice at that resolution, I'm thinking to go with Zotac Solid brand, £1050 for a 5080 or £2,180 for a 5090?
+ 5090Ah 5080 should been at least 24gb vram. The 16gb has put it as one the pointless gpu of 2025I'm wondering this also, having upgraded to a 5k2k display recently I was going to grab a 5080 (upgrade from 3080) but now I'm thinking a 5090 might be the better choice at that resolution, I'm thinking to go with Zotac Solid brand, £1050 for a 5080 or £2,180 for a 5090?

Is the 5090 worth the money right now? With talks it's going to go up in price. Is it a choice of now or wait for next gen
Camera panning in some games does break with a mouse with MFG (Stray) comes to mind as a recent game I've played even without any mfg where controller was needed to avoid weird panning issues, so hard agree. If the multi-frame gen under DLSS 4.5 that’s coming soon is good, then IMO that makes a 5080 a better choice for people that play with a controller rather than a mouse.

I reckon Q3 2027 release, by then Nvidia will be gearing up for moving on to next gen with their B2B business and give us gamers the Rubin crumbs. I see 6090 as the card to have to really enjoy ultra wide 5k2k 240 hz monitors. You have the 5090 but even that still somewhat struggles in some games (poor optimisation or otherwise) at native 4k.Worth the money is debateable. I think the price of high end nvidia cards is insane and has been since the 3090.
With that said though once you dip your feet in the pool, subsequent upgrades aren't that much as the resale value of the 90 series is extremely good and covers a big chunk of your next upgrade.
I know people that bought their 4090 at the end of 2022 and upgraded to a 5090 at the start of 2025 for only a couple of hundred after selling their cards!
All of that aside, anyone wanting a 5090 should buy one now while prices aren't much higher than they've been, you're going to get a solid year of use minimum as the next gen of cards isn't coming this year despite what some people think (I've read people saying end of 2026 for a 6090 which I can't see happening at all)
