550D or 600D - Help me decide

Some people do it, others don't. The problem is they can reduce contrast, especially the cheaper ones, iirc digitalrev did some testing with them.

I'm mindblown now guys - the Nikon 5100 is also on offer :o

Help?

It has a better sensor than Canon crops, £307 on *******.

Is it as easy to get around as the canon? I notice the canon has better fps for video clips at 1280 (video is not my priority otherwise I would get a camcorder!)

Buzz - You are a canon man then? ;)

It's pretty much the same in terms of controls yeah, I had the 550D before the D5100. The 50mm lens is around 2x as expensive though because the D5100 doesn't have an AF motor.

Much better sensors on their crop cameras. Their R&D seems to be pulling ahead of Canon as well with recent releases like the D600.

The 5100 is certainly a lot cheaper than the 600D.

Confused.com! :(

If you don't have any canon lenses I would certainly definitely consider the 5100. It has a much better sensor than nay canon crop camera.

However, the 5100 successor, 5200 is going to be announced in the next days. This may mean further price drops on the 5100 but the price is already incredible.

In short, the risk of digital rev may be worth it?

You can get the camera, 50mm (which I love), 18-55mm, two filters, memory card and bag for not a great deal more than the uk camera?

Edit : Though I'm watching comets sale with keen eyes!

******* and digitalrev have a long history of safe sales, it would be mad not to buy from them. I bought my D5100, 50mm and 18-105mm from digitalrev.

I guess the EOS would come badged as a Rebel xxx ? I shall have to have a look at their 5100 pricing - makes no sense not to.

Personally I would get an 18-135mm rather than the 18-55mm kit lens if I was spending that much, assuming it matches up to Nikons 18-105mm of course.
