Some people do it, others don't. The problem is they can reduce contrast, especially the cheaper ones, iirc digitalrev did some testing with them.
It has a better sensor which is why I went with it, £307 on *******.

Is it as easy to get around as the canon? I notice the canon has better fps for video clips at 1280 (video is not my priority otherwise I would get a camcorder!)
The 5100 is certainly a lot cheaper than the 600D.
