5700XT Driver Timeout Issues

i have my memory overclocked to 1800

i found if i touch the power limit it crashes hope this helps i think the card are coming out well overvolted and are overclocked to much maybe even try -10 on power limit

Ok,

I used DDU to remove any traces of AMD GPU in safe mode, I then ran the latest driver software till it extracted in my C:/AMD folder then cancelled the setup.
I went into Device Manager and installed the driver here using that folder as a reference.

I then installed Afterburner and changed the settings to what you had (with 0% power limit) and so far:
-Assassins Creed Valhalla - passed benchmark (only ran once)
-Shadow of the Tomb Raider - passed benchmark (only ran once)
-Unigine Heaven - PC RESTARTED (tried twice)
-Red Dead Redemption -

So going from here I think its safe to assume this is got to either be a 5700XT/Windows 10 update clash OR faulty GPU/bad drivers.

Can see me getting nowhere with GIGABYTE and having to accept a full refund from "High Street Retailer" since they like many others have no stock :(

And the 3600XT can't run without a GPU correct :(
 
I had issue's with my 5700XT with black screen crashes a few months ago, it turned out to be Hardware accelerating in Discord that was causing it. Turned that off and it's been fine ever since.

Would be a nice attempt for me but I don't even have discord installed yet, trying to work off as fresh of a build as I can.

I thought I got somewhere there were all I did was turn the POWER LIMIT in AMD to -50% as I heard too much can cause instability.
I ran 3 benchmarks which all passed, then I started playing Resident Evil Village, worked for about 5mins then black screen to desktop. Checked event viewer and the standard:

"Display driver amdkmdap stopped responding and has successfully recovered".

I have already tried adding the regedit for TdrDelay to 10 but still doesn't help :(
I think I am at the point I've physically done everything I can, it must 100% be a faulty card.
My only options now are hoping Gigabyte respond and accept to return it for repair/replacement and don't send me back to the seller as they will just give me the £330 back which won't get me a graphics card anywhere near the same performance (if I even get any!)

I also ran a full 16GB memory test which passed 100%.
I did at some point get some Processor error in Event Viewer a few times the PC restarted or display stopped. What is the best way to rule out my 3600XT being the issue?
 
There a option in the amd driver set up just to install drivers no software no need to do it manually makes it easier

I know how you feel I wanted to send my back aswell no point as no replacment are available and full refund won't buy you anything decent have you just tried to game on it instead of benchmarks see if it will play them as bench marks can be tricky

They say put it on pci gen 3 in bios and use x2 power supply cables to gpu

I have tried just installing the driver only, still crashes/restarts, I even tried a letting Windows install the driver for me, same issues... reason its pointing more towards Hardware each day I test.
Also its not just benchmarks, as stated I was playing games and it would crash, sometimes even just opening AMD Catalyst and moving the box around made the driver crash as I have in a video.

I don't have any other program installed, I am working off a fresh windows so unless windows itself has a Hardware Acceleration setting then this won't help but thanks.


I even registered on the GIGABYTE forum but still not received the email back "approving" me...
Just hope they respond to my ticket ASAP :(
 
want me to test it in my sons rig? He has a 5700xt that runs fine so a simple swap out and if it crashes then we all know!

Appreciate the offer m8 but Ive already tested it in my rig and done same issues... and my RX580 ran fine in his. Plus his brother had a 5700XT Mech OC so we could always try his (just dont want to cause anymore issues with his lol).

I think this is 99.9% some sort of VRAM or Power Delivery issue with the card itself. That seems to be what most point to.

Get ill just need to pray someone is selling stuff in the members market for around RRP :(
 
Sorry if this has already been suggested but I had a Asus 5700 non xt with similar problems. What fixed it for me was updating the firmware of the GPU itself. After that no more problems. Apologies if you have already tried this.

Do you mean a GPU BIOS update?

If so how would I go about that and how do I know what the latest version should be? I always thought people only upgraded the GPU BIOS to "fake flash" it to be other models.

Cheers I will look into it more but flashing a GPU sounds sketchy to me lol. Knowing my luck I will brick it or something, especially if the card is randomly crashing as it is lol.

I sent them an email also stating all the stuff I tried, photo/video proof, proof of purchase..
Just need to hope they agree to take it for REPAIR or REPLACEMENT as if they send me back to Currys then I need to take a refund that doesn't help me replace the GPU needed to run the PC.

Unless I keep it till Nov when its out of 1yr and then ask Gigabyte but even then that is risky.

I will let you know what response (if any!) I get.

Yes, and also it done same issue when AMD wasn't even installed.

TLDR is:

"High street retailer" agree to refund the money but have also agreed I can send to Gigabyte for repair/replacement first. I am paying the postage fee's to send it to Gigabyte this week for repair or refurb/replacement. If they cannot fix or don't have any to swap it with then we will just need to take the refund and look for a second hand GPU somewhere :(

Will post an update when I hear from Gigabyte.
 
Ok..

Got reply from Gigabyte saying card worked fine for them but they replaced it anyway as a gesture of goodwill but I wont be able to send it back for the same issue.

Fresh windows install.. new GPU installed.. and I even installed the AMD driver version they used in their screenshot of 3D Mark Timespy.

The Driver Timeout Error popped up but the test continued to run and pass. So I can only assume they have Error Detection turned off.

I then tried a few games and got the same issues.

So this has 99.9% got to be an AMD Driver + Windows issue and has been for around 2 years. I even checked the AMDHelp subreddit and even more people this week have posted this issue.

I think my only option now is to refund the GPU for £330 and try and source a second-hand NVIDIA card for him.

I have completly lost all faith in AMD now and being one of the "fanboys" who defended them for years I can hold my hands up and say they were right all along.
