5800x PPT/TDC/EDC

It depends on what you’re doing with your rig as to what you do, I’m happy to lose possible performance as long as temps are low, don’t play a lot of games and I cap at 144fps so pull back CPU and GPU as far as I can while still maintaining 144fps with settings in the game maxed.

with 5800x my temps are lower with an all core load in prime95 sfft than if i run a 4 core load in prime. issue is 140w going into 4 cores is more heat density since 4 cores will be pulling 35w each and on 8 core load each core pulls 17.5w so easier to dissipate that heat over more die surface area. this is going to happen regardless of cooler used with these zen cpus so best thing is to just set a temp limit your comfortable with and carry on. i leave it at stock 90c and it will hit that temp and throttle when prime runs 4-6 core load. at 8 core load it hits the ppt wall. messing with tdc edc will drop performance or cause stability issues, people dont run corecycler to test individual core boost stability.

well I have settled on the following settings (not had time to do full stability testing just some runs of cinebench23 and some timespy etc but all good so far.)

PPT 120
TDC 75
EDC 110
all core Neg offset of -20
this is giving me better performance than stock whilst having temps max out around 75-78 under full load.

This is what i use. Didn't know where to start so just tried this from another thread and works great for me, been rock solid and stable from day1.

PPT 125
TDC 84
EDC 125
with curve optimiser -25 all core with a 0mhz core offset.

So, 120/75/110 when running a set of Cinebench (single then multi) gives me the lowest temps (70oC) so thinking I'll stick with that, especially given it also seems to give me the best results (1569/7092)
I'll have a bit more of a tinker tomorrow.

These are what I have tried so far, found in this and other threads on the subject.

90/60/65 - 1531/6784/74.5oC
115/80/105 - 1528/6930/77.3oC
120/75/110 - 1569/7092/70oC
110/75/80 - 1546/6846/76.3oC
116/78/115 - 1537/6857/74.8oC
125/90/120 - *Tomorrow
105/90/95 - *Tomorrow*

I also tried just doing a negative curve but literally only spent 5 minutes on it
142/95/140 (stock neg5) - 1543/6845/75.3oC
142/95/140 - (stock) 1535/6800/75.8oC
