Hi guys

I currently have my CPU overclocked to 4.5ghz and successfully ran a real bench for 15 minutes on various occasions. The only issue I have is that my 5820K seems to run very hot. I use Real Temp to monitor the the temps and It states that I am getting about 85-90 degrees. Below is my overclock settings:

Cpu strap: 125 x 36 = 4.5ghz
uncore: auto (4.12)
pwm phase control balanced
voltage: auto (around 1.25v)
XMP: off
everything else on auto.

I also reseated my cooler (corsair h100i gtx) with fresh artic silver 5 (line method) which made no difference to temps.
Some have suggested that my CPU is too hot and I should RMA it.

What do you guys think?

Any help appreciated

Chris

Hi guys

I have 2 apache fans running at 100% located at the top of the radiator, pushing air down through the radiator. The h100i sounds like its nice and quiet. I have the pump running at 100%.
idle temp around 33 degrees
full load temp 85-92

software used: real bench (15mins), real temp, cpuz
voltage being monitored by cpuz, i have also tried aida64

I only have this one cooler
When it's under full load 85-92
When I stop benchmark it sits at about 40 and takes a while to return to 30.

I'll try core temp later

I will download that later then and see what voltage I'm getting.
Could it be that my chip requires low voltage for 4.5ghz? And 1.25v is too much?

I'll try these 3 steps when I go home
1. Try core temp
2. Touch radiator to see if it's warm
3. Set a solid voltage, maybe lower than 1.25

Bare with me guys. I appreciate your feedback

I don't have any air coolers to hand to test.
I'm not sure how i would tell of this pump is doing its job properly
It says on corsair link that it's running at 2940

Running test now using Real Bench 15 mins and HW monitor, core temp to monitor voltage and temps

7mins into test: 85 degrees on core temp
1.219v

So guess what guys, my fans were pulling out air from the inside of my case!
Hot air rising through radiator and being blown out the top of case!!
I turned the fans around so that they are blowing fresh air down into radiator into case.
Running test now.
Full load 3 mins into test: 63 degrees !

Ps... This was a custom pc from pc specialist that was bought for me. Everything else is well built and well cable managed except for fans being round the wrong way!
Can't knock a gift horse!

So the test was successful with temps around 73 degrees! A big difference to say the least. Some times you just cant trust "pre-built" systems

Seems like it dude
2x120 fans pushing fresh into radiator and into case
3x120 fans blowing fresh air in front of case.
1x140 fan blowing air out the back of case

The 2 fans on top of the radiator made all the difference
