That would mean hot air would be blown through the rad again the configuration I used to have hot air heating the water

My 980ti has 3 fans and here is an exhaust out the back.
The issue was definitely solved by making the fans on the rad push cold outside air through the rad into the case.

In afraid I don't. Mobo temps weren't important at the time as I had enough fans blowing into the case.
