What's up with the naming system. A 6870 I thought would be the replacement for a 5870, not the 5850? Ah, or is it the replacement for the 5770 that happens to be faster than a 5850?

Looks like a price war might trigger between the 6850/6870's and the 460/470's

Heck, the HAWK's at stock offer very similar performace to the 6870 for 20 quid less

I've been looking at some of minimum scores in games, not the average and as such not the end of review type compilation scores. And the 6870 seems to only scrape a win over the 5850. Tessalation minimums likewise.

Considering the same tdp and very poor overclocking, and I'd say anyone who was going to overclock would be better off with a 5850. Next, look at the comments from one or two sites on the reference cooler noise, and consider the pricing on 5850 non reference designs you can buy right now and I'm struggling to look at the 6870 as an improvement at all.

Prices should level off, but right now for me the 6870 is pretty much a direct replacement for the 5850.
