5870 no display!!! help!!

Okay so today i bought myself a tidy new 5870, went through with installing it.

Uninstalled old drivers in devmgmt.msc then switched off my computer and took out the old graphics card and installed the new. Put my display cable into the new card and turned on my computer and nothing! Nothing shows up in device manager either only the onboard 4200 graphics display D:

What i have done wrong? Have i missed something?

The fan just spins at max and thats it :S

have you put both 6 pin power plugs into it? i was noob and thought it used one and had same issue

yup both 6 pins are in and im using a corsair 650 HXUK modular. Ahhh this is annoying. I've disabled the onboard and tried again but still nothing.

Do i have to use the other display ports or something?

How are you connecting the powerplugs?

It's just one single 6 pin which is split into 2 x 6+2 pin power connectors. I only used one.

Could it be Catalyst control center thats causing it? It didn't uninstall properly i think cos its coming up with errors saying incorrect display drivers etc...

You need two 6 pin connections coming from two different cables. I had the same problem.

You need to make sure both are plugged it, you can't just run it off one. Another option is get the molex adapter to power the other 6 pin port. Usually if the fan spins on max it means it's not getting enough power.

hmm, mine works ok on my seasonic 750 gold using 1 cable that splits into 2, but i use 2 cables from psu cause i have cf

Tried using those but still nothing. going to try using the molex adapters instead. The fan is just spinning at MAX but displaying nothing.

Still nothing on screen, doesnt even detect that there is a device there...

My old card used to do this, got a new one and updated the bios and its not done it since.

Update the bios? As in motherboard bios?

You could try one pci 6 pin to each of the cards and one molex to 6 pin for each of the cards.

Yes motherboard bios, could have just been a faulty card as it would work sometimes.

Hmm dont really get what you mean, i only have one graphics card..

Unless you mean 1 molex to 6 pin and 1 x 6 pin to the card?

I just plugged in my old card and its come up with overclock fail :S, im starting to think this is a power consumption problem?

My old card ran off the motherboard, did not require a power cable.
