5870 no display!!! help!!

Take it back to OCUK and ask them to test it again and this time you insist you watch them test it and don't take no for an answer. Also it might not be a bad idea to ask them what spec there test bed PC is.

I don't live close to them, it would have to be a few weeks time now before i make another drive. It's about 71 miles there and 71 miles back.

I will try the Clearing CMOS solution and loading up optimized default settings tomorrow and go from there. If not i'll just drop my whole rig at my mates place and let him play about with it.

This is dependant of course whether the card is indeed "fine".

ACTION PLAN:

Heres whats left to do after about 3 hours of reading solid from other peoples past experiences etc here is what i think would be the best thing to do...

As OLDPHART said, i will clear CMOS using the jumper but firstly:

1) i'll uninstall all graphics drivers using the programs manager and device manager
2) shut down computer, uninstall 5670 graphics card.
3) turn on computer in safe mode and run driver sweeper clearing the rest of the graphics drivers.
4) switch off computer and clear CMOS
5) Load optimal settings
6) turn on computer and disable onboard graphics
7) turn off again and install 5870

...8) cross fingers and hope it works?

ALSO

I loaded up driver sweeper and found i have nvidia drivers installed on my computer yet i have had no nvidia cards ever installed on my rig? PhysX possibly?

Thats fine and all but drivers dont matter on boot up.

So what would you suggest? Because like i said, when i first boot up i get no post whatsoever as if the card isn't even recognised. Sometimes i get boot up as i can see HDD activity and i can hear the windows log in sound but no display.

you mean changing it from x16 to a lower speed bus? Hmm not sure if i can do this but occording to cpu-z its always on x16

Could it be anything to do with your 8Gb of memory installed. Seem to remember reading a similar problem a while back and the graphics card would'nt work with 4x2gb memory sticks installed. Just a thought.:)

I got my card back today and they said its fine aswel so thats 2 companies saying its fine. Only thing left to do now is reset CMOS and disable onboard vga via bios and then what rolypolyman said, to take out 2 gigs of ram.!

Wish me luck!

I only have 1 but it doesn't matter, read the new thread and you'll see how i've got on with this problem.
