I'm currently using a stock-clocked 5870, however I'm confident it's slowely dying. I've owned it since feb 2010 and it's on a slippery slope.

I've got a budget of £150-£200, or so, and I'm looking for an an AMD card to upgrade to.

Which of the £100-£200 range would people recommend?

I've not kept up to date with the technological advances for a few years since I built my setup so I'm not sure what cards are worth a glance.

could you try reseating the cooler on the 5870 with some new paste are you sure it's not just overheating ? what with this hot weather n all

Other symptoms include the colour-tint of the monitor changing between various shades every so often, occasional graphical driver crashes and terrible fps in various games, a lot of BSOD's and Flash driver crashing as well.

Only thing I've not done yet is reinstall the OS, just not had the time.

id just grab a 7850,i dont regret upgrading from mine to an msi tf3 7850,runs much quieter/cooler and uses less power, and i had the vapor x 5870

The 7970/50 is the nearest equivalent of the 5870/50.

The 7870/50 would be the equivalent of the 5770/50.

There is little point upgrading, however, as most games are DX9 console derivatives.
The few games that are DX10/11 aren't worth the bother.
