5900X vs. 7000 series worth it?

X79 V2 was quite a future thinking platform and/or over-specced, which helped massively with longevity, they just don't make em like that any more :( even just the little things like reinforced CPU socket with built in backplate.

I'm in a very similar situation, 5900X paired with a 7900XTX at 1440p.
I have the money to make the jump to AM5 7800X3D, its in the basket right now, but a £700 upgrade for the CPU, MB, and DDr5.
It's a tough one but something tells me I should hold out for Zen 5.

Tough one as the jump for 1440p gaming with a 7900XTX can be significant - even up to 30% in some games, but for anything else it is single digit performance difference for a lot of money spent.

I could always take the plunge, then sell the 7800x3d when the Zen 5 X3d's are released, that way I'd be ready to just drop in the new CPU.
(Can you tell I'm trying to convince myself).

what do you do with the system? if you game and watch you tube that is multitasking
you have 64gb of ram now do you need that? because if you use it you will need the same when you move to ddr5

a 7600x is the same ish speed as a 5800x3d, so for gaming everything 7000 is faster than everything 5000.
what it comes to demanding CPU tasks gaming everything 7000 is faster than everything 5000.
