I have a HIS 5970 system is below

I5 750 @ 4.0
2x2 1600mhz ddr 3 ram
H50 cooler
1920x1200 rez
PSU is a Coolermaster GX 750w
Crucial RealSSD C300 64GB

Just tried BC2 on it and was hitting below 50fps best and way below that 40's average( very poor) when i run the Mafia 2 benchmark i get 59fps average, does this seem way too low, now a bit ago i had 2x 5870's in x fire and hitting virtually 100fps all the time on bc2.

I have the same psu i used at that time and got decent performance from the x-fire 5870's but i was expecting better performance than this from the card anyone got any ideas.

On Mafia 2, I rarely go below 90fps at 1080p with my 5970. Thats with vsync off of course, I usually have vsync on though so allwys runs at a constant 60fps and no tearing. Are you using cat's 10.8?

I had low fps on my 4870x2 on bc2, turned out that the display drivers wouldn't automatically adjust from eco mode to performance mode.

Try enabling "force maximum performance clocks" in the catalyst tray icon if you have that option available to you.

(Im still using 10.5 drivers and do not know if they fixed that issue since)

5970 is around 10% slower than 2 5870's all being equal ..

If your using 10.6 /10.7 /10.8's your FPS/performance is about right if your using 10.4 or 5's your FPS is low.

Tip if reverting back to 10.4/5 I recommend doing a wipe because there are files written to the registry that no amount of cleaning will get rid off and you won't have your true performance back otherwise..:(

An example of this I went from 10.5's to 10.8's to fix starcraft in crossfire and when setting up games I go from some very thorough tests E.G with very high settings in Napoleon I got 120Fps with 10.5's then to 10.8's I got 90+ fps then bacl to 10.5's 105fps so I lost 15 fps in perfmance all else being equal after a clean install back to 10.5 I went back upto 120Fps:rolleyes:moral of the story with the latest ATI drivers and crossfire do a complete fresh install if you can..:o

Seriously a fresh OS install just to revert to older drivers? seems a bit extreme

Crossfire enabled and working?

Latest drivers and profiles installed?

I don't get any crossfire option in catalyst control panel but when i use gpuz it says i have 2 gpu's there in crossfire.

I put 10.8's in straight away along with the profiles of 10.8a, just hovers around 59fps on Mafia 2 benchmark.

Think that option was just for the x2 cards, could be wrong though.

It wouldn't be a psu issue would it i have a Coolermaster GX 750w, i had this about 4 months ago and it ran 2x5870's fine.

Still the same fps in Mafia 2 with 10.5 and 10.5 profiles even disabled the usb3/sata3 function of the motherboard thinking that might be a problem.
