5970 performing poor

That sounds about right, looks like you have problems with specific games only.

I thought the score seemed ok as i was only getting just over 27k when i had the 2x5870's in x fire it just seems game performance is dire though, just ran bad company 2 on the 10.5's and getting around 90's fps but aa looked dodgy to me as if none was on, vantage seems way slower on these drivers than it did on the 10.8's.

I game with the 5970. It's a good graphics card in the sense the technology is always advancing, there are some great neat features implemented, it looks good, at idle state the heat power draw is very good, noise at full load with the standard cooler is ok for me personaly. But my experience when gaming varies from ok to quite bad, but the 5970 like many great graphics cards are worthless and will under perform without decent driver and profile support. I read this recentley ..."you won't always be able to take advantage of both GPUs in a new game until you've installed a driver update with a CrossFire profile for it. Also, you can expect to see something less than twice the performance of a single GPU, because multi-GPU performance rarely scales up perfectly", and i agree with that. I have never had a constant frame rate in any game, the fames per second are up and down quite bad, mostly downward :D. A new driver update and crossfire profile does not always (if at all, for some) give any real world gaming advantages with regards to frames per second.
I don't get any crossfire option in catalyst control panel but when i use gpuz it says i have 2 gpu's there in crossfire.
The Radeon HD 5970 is a dual-GPU graphics card, it sports two of the Cypress GPUs that power the Radeon HD 5870. Each GPU has its own 1GB bank of GDDR5 memory. Situated between the two GPUs under a metal cap, is a PCI Express switch chip from PLX. Crossfire on a stick, lol. Most of this information except the gaming experience was relayed from the tech report.

Sorry guys i feel like a price **** to put it blunt realized in mafia i had vsync on was hitting 68fps average is this about right or still too low.

I was about to post saying how did everyone miss that with Mafia II :D

Can't comment on BC2, never played it too much, I just know I could max it out with no slowdown, no benchmarks tried

If it makes you feel any better I didn't want to post such an obvious suggestion ...as it seemed to noobish to suggest :p
68fps sounds about right if on a i7 with two 5870's I think i was mid 90's at that res -10% = 85fps -i5 =70ish fps ...sounds about right to me :)
Be intrested to see how u find 10.8's on BC2 and as far as doing a clean install it will get u back all the perfomance of the original driver...rather than doing an overlay install.:o

how come such low fps

i have a xfx5850 amd x4 955be 4gig of ddr3 1333
fps with 30 players on a server was between 80-160fps
1920x1080 all in high dx11 2x aa 2x af no hdr
surely ur fps must be much higher i have had 10.6 and 10.8 drivers no diffents
only thing is i got my card on thrusday got to send it back its rma geting grey screen of death

I can be a n00b from time to time :P i actually put the 10.8's back in and i prefer the performance of those, Mafia 2 was never super smooth on the 10.5's but is now and with 10.8's I getting 78fps in the benchmark, also i get better performance from arma 2, not tried bc2 as i don't play it that much now.
