Trying to get a 5TB drive working in a 2011 HP Xeon workstation. It's not playing nice. If I use MBR, Windows 7 won't even find it during setup. If I use GPT, Windows finds it, but only sees it as a 600GB drive  I've tried:

Updated BIOS to latest version.
Installed latest chipset drivers.
Tried a different SATA port.

DiskPart also only sees it as 600GB and won't let me expand it. Tried cleaning it in DiskPart also - no difference.

Formatted it from another machine (works fine there) and stuck it back in the HP. Nothing.

I've come to the conclusion the HP just doesn't like the drive. Anybody got ant other tricks I can try?

Ta!

the reliability of anything over 2tb in size makes me think twice for anything bigger atm, so i'll stick with a box full of older 20x2tb drives and hot swap
