5w30 oils...all the same?

From research in the past, the Castrol 5w30 (gold bottle not green) seems to be the best.

That doesn't mean to say its the correct/best for your car.

That's what i use, mainly because it's what Audi recommend.

Magnatec 5w30 is usually Ford Spec, Edge seems to be for VW, Audi, etc

Go to a scrap yard and syphon some off, much cheaper and blacker, which must be good.

5w30 Castrol Edge is popular for the 350Z - but they all have different specs just make sure you get the right one for your car.

Re the 2 stroke comment above, so you've worked on VW engines before then? My VW TFSI goes through a bit! No low level sensor either, fail Seat.

I went to look at a passat a few years ago at a dealer (not main) and when I asked what oil had been in it he said "10w40 only the best you know" So I told him his engine would be buggered and to do some research on the PD engine before selling it on.

Yes. It will be fine BUT! You should empty as much of the mix as you can and replace it with the correct type as the additives will eventually cause issues. But there is no urgency. Just within a few months. Something is better than nothing.

why not just put your car reg into euro car parts then buy the same spec oils as those shown on there? would take literally 2 seconds
