Hey everyone,

As per the title, I was wondering if it would be a good idea to begin thinking about replacing my PSU. I haven't had any problems and has been a rock solid PSU for the entire time I've had it, But I did read somewhere that it is recommended to replace a psu every five to six years. Personally I have no idea whether this is true or not which is why I'm asking.

if I were to replace it I would appreciate some recommendations along the same lines, I have no idea what the best PSU's are these days, Although I've heard some pretty good things about the be quiet! Series of power supplies?

It's a well made PSU, even if it were to die its built in protections should stop it from doing any harm to your system.

The only reason I'd swap it out would be out of necessity, but given it's 1000W there's not a lot it can't handle.

I've got a EVGA Supernova G2 1000w which I'm pretty sure is made by Superflower. It's about 11 years old now and still going strong so I wouldn't worry at 6!
Yeah I picked the super flower at the time because I knew it was a reliable brand, really glad to hear that it should handle everything just fine for a good few years to come.

Contrary to the above posters, I tend to replace PSUs no matter the condition roughly 5 years in. Components don't last forever, and although the PSU could well last 20 years, I'd rather not take the risk.

I sell my one on and just accept the price difference to buying new

Thast's a real waste of money and a perfectly good PSU.
